Pain

It hurts when your heart is ripped by the one that you have given everything to. The numbness creeps up ever so slowly. But when it finally grasps a hold of you, you do not fight it, you embrace it. Because it is all you can do. Instead of letting the pain overtake you and consume you, you let yourself become numb so that you feel no pain. So that you feel nothing at all. It is a wonderful feeling, that is, until the numbness wears off. Then all of those emotions that you have been avoiding hit you like a tsunami. And all you can do is become overwhelmed by it and hope that you will survive. But the pain will stay with you always. It is one thing that you cannot erase from your memories, or your heart.
