Yeah, I reported on this previously:
iPhone Chinese partner Foxconn "Suicide Cluster" claims another victim BTW, the next paragraph of the article (not quoted on your linked page) says: "Woo said it was common for workers to have 80 hours a month of overtime, but Foxconn was aiming to reduce the workload and become the first company in the industry to keep overtime to a maximum of 36 hours a month – as required by Chinese law." A law no one is enforcing, apparently. |
That article is funny, in a dark scary kinda way.
Look at that picture - http://media.bestofmicro.com/,D-2-258374-3.jpg Don't those employees look so much HAPPIER now they are forced to participate in an 'our company is so great' day? Forced to wear pink shirts with 'I love this company' written on them? It's funny because its pretty damn dark, and will probably end up with more people killing themselves. 'Quit killing yourselves and put on this pink shirt saying you love the company so people won't stop buying ipods!' |
It's a shame dystopian fiction is so played out, those 'I love Foxconn' shirts are some 1984 shit.
