Killing the Little Guy
Most of the time I am actually serious about politics. This is one of those things in society that irks me. It seems like everything is stacked against the middleclass and the elite hide behind this excuse they are protecting themselves.
I have taken the time to write about it in a couple articles and plan on adding more in the future. Starting off with the whole "Credit Risk" abuse, there is also another article that covers some of the actions being discussed in government. So cpsternim can read it all and report back to everyone else. http://www.printnpost.com/articles/6...Guy/Page1.html |
Good article, but lacking in some major points.
First, the was no mention of the most recent bankruptcy act passed in 2004. The bush administration put new legislation through that limits the amount of debt someone can declare bankruptcy from. Funny thing though, thanks to loopholes it only effects poor people. Rich people can still write off the whole amount. It also modifies what can be 'written off', meaning again those people who just own one home and one car get screwed even more thanks to this new legislation. There is also the issue of usery. Credit card companies are being allowed to charge rates now that just a few years ago would have been considered 'usury' (the legal term for what the law calls loan sharking). Thanks to more loop holes companies can compound interest on top of interest thats not calculated immediately, allowing them to bypass the magic 24% number which is where usury starts. Then there are the reports - since the above legislation went into law the various credit card companies reported HUGE windfalls from their investments. Ironically enough, the same companies are now writing off billions because of the mortgage crisis, which was also created by the same people in efforts to bleed Americans even more. |
That is a great point. However, larger companies have to liquidate as much as they can in order to pay off the debt.
Things like inventory, equipment and people's pentions who worked for them over twenty years. |
Since when is middle class the 'little guy'?

Thats exactly what I was thinking.. |
They are little and according to most surveys are becoming almost extinct. The poor are the growing majority.
|
Oh no!
We have to save the fragile middle class from the growing threat of the working class! |
Jilli I LOL'd at that.....
Instead of trying to maintain the "small & almost extinct" middle class shouldnt we try to lessen the numbe rof poor people? instead of helping out those who are already middle class. We should help those who live below the poverty line become middle class.. Now all that I wrote above If working under a framework where capitalism and being middle class is good... this is more so hypothetical on my part.. |

O_o (i.e. the middle class is part of the working class.) |
The middle class is not part of the working class. Middle class are white-collar workers. The people that still sell their labor for capital, but they can afford the luxury of choice, and have been privileged enough to believe that bourgeois ethics are just.

Working class in unions make a decent wage. However, the working class is slowly becoming the slave class, working for nothing.
