Crossdressing?

Personally I love it. I have been into fashion for quite sometime and always found women's attire to be more appealing and more comfortable. Occasionally I will dress in full drag and go to Rocky Horror.

Anyways, your thoughts. Good, bad, sexy, grotesque, Discuss.

There was a recent interview with Eddie Izzard in which he said something to the effect of "they're not women's clothes, they're my clothes."

I also find it interesting that its only really considered cross dressing if a man is wearing women's clothes. My work uniform could be considered cross dressing (white collar shirt, black pants, tie and vest) but its not.

I'm not to sure what Eddie is trying to imply with a statement like that.
I have always wonder that too. For some reason its okay for women to wear male attire and not be out of the norm. I guess crossdressers will always be sterotyped as males.

People also assume i'm homosexual because I crossdress, which is false. I'm a transvestite (straight male that dresses as a woman) its always fun explaining that to people.

Actually pretty fun in a space where it's cool to do. I cross dress (with a lot of help) whenever I go to rocky horror. Wouldn't do it to the grocery store, but that's just me. Do whatcha do.

Yes I agree, I only do it in the right atmosphere. Rocky, comic/anime cons, at home, and definitely Halloween.

A small joke between a friend of mine and me goes like this: "It's okay for a woman to wear men's clothes, but if a man wears women's clothes, he's immediately asked to leave Victoria's Secret!"

I think crossdressing is as far as any way of dressing really, and I admire the courage it takes! :)

Wasn't there a thread here about a Dad who wore a dress with his kid because she was trans?

D'awww:)

As for that other thread, I have no idea, but I think I heard of something like that awhile back.

I do believe the exact quote was "They’re not women’s clothes. They’re my clothes. I bought them." I think the sentiment is when we use terms like cross dressing or wearing women's clothes, we're talking as if men don't actually belong in those clothes, the clothes belong to other. And its very arbitrary over what gets considered women's clothes and men's clothes, trousers and ties are now okay for women to wear and kilts are acceptable skirts for men to wear.

Okay, now I see. I agree with him, clothes are just clothes.
In recent times the line of what's considered male and female clothing has definitely become more arbitrary. A lot of the male clothing I own looks feminine. For example my tight jeans and cowl neck shirts. hopefully dresses start coming out in men's sizes haha

I think a lot of it is that masculine things are seen as good in our society so a woman wearing menswear isn't doing anything wrong (as long as she remembers her place and doesn't get "uppity") but women and femininity are seen as less than so the reverse isn't true. Think of the most common insults for guys, its shit like calling them a girl or a pussy. In our culture a man being associated with femininity is supposed to be humiliating and degrading.

It shouldn't be that way and it is something feminists are actually fighting to change (MRAs both make fun of us for it and use it as an example of 'female privilege") but for now it is the reality of our culture.

Agreed. I actually like being a associated with feminity. I think women are stronger and overall more appealing then men.

Was going to say what Solumnia said... so... yeah

However, the term "transvestite" is terrible. It's the porn industries term for fetishizing transsexual women.

I'd say your simply more gender fluid with your identity expression. Which is fantastic.

D'aww your sweet. Or in easier terms, I'm just a guy that like dresses and heels haha.

Just out of curiosity, do you ladies find drag attractive?
