DIY chain studs

What I want to do is attach wallet-sized chains to my coat. I want to attach them by studs, kind of like the studs/eyelets seen on a regular pair of jeans. Except that the stems would be quarter-inch to half-inch in length.

I'm not sure exactly how to describe these, I'm hoping that someone can help me. I've considered using screw-in dome studs, with extra long screw posts, but in my experience, screw studs tend to work themselves out of position.

If you want to go down the screw-in route, you can always stick a little nail polish on the thread, which should dry tough enough that it doesn't work itself out of position, but not as hard to undo as glue!!

Thanks, I'll look into that.

Screw studs get loose, and the pronged, belt-style studs tear off eventually, they both have pros and cons. Try sewing a d-ring on to the coat , or even just sewing a loop of fabric around the chain and to the coat, the put a stud in that? It's not too hard to sew it flat enough.
