I made a rosary to give to my mom on Christmas.

I used a St. Anne centre, since she's the saint of mothers, but also because Mom's mom was an Anne, and her first name is Anne, and my sister's middle name is Anne. I got a Benedict crucifix which apparently has a medal of St. Benedict on the back, which means it has an indulgence for a happy death (he's the saint of the dying) so I felt really really weird using it, but she's an embalmer/funeral director so hopefully it'll make sense.

That's beautiful! I wish I had your talent. All my hand made jewelry looks like crap >.<

Daww, thanks! It was the first piece of jewelry I made, and I gotta say I'm really proud of it.

I had some beads left over so I made myself a necklace.

Tentacular!

Acharis 06-13-2013 01:29 PM

I kinda want to dump a lot of stuff I've made here, but much of it is knitting... so does it go here or in the Knitting thread?

The pressure :(

Acharis 06-13-2013 01:36 PM

Eh. Whatevs.

This is what I do with sharp sticks

SICK. I was just thinking the other day that if I get a start on Christmas gifts now I can have time to knit nice fair isle things.

Acharis 06-18-2013 06:59 AM

Thanks Saya! I've whored out a lot of my old pics elsewhere but haven't posted them here, so do you guys want to see them?

Acharis 06-19-2013 01:14 AM

Meh, no sense in the pics just sitting there I guess. I'm done holding out on you, have some knit porn

I love the lace stockings! I'll have to give lace knitting another chance, although I'm very partial to fishnet crochet. Is the pattern available online?

I recently finished a Newfoundland flag scarf and it got me out of my knitting funk. I got a Kobo giftcard for my birthday so I'm snooping for a new book for Christmas knits ideas. I also started planning out a shadow scarf pattern (cat faces) but it isn't going too well so far XD

Acharis 06-20-2013 06:59 AM

Thanks Saya! Yep, the pattern sure is available online. It's a free one on Knitty.

I found the fishnet pattern extremely easy, the worst part was redesigning the pattern to fit my smaller legs/feet and make up for the fact that my yarn was a different weight with zero elastic. (That's why it's chunkier than the Knitty pic.)

Next time I knit these I want to try using Patons stretch sock yarn, as Esprit and Cascade Fixation both have high shipping costs for Oz.

Acharis 06-20-2013 07:02 AM

Oh for fucks sake. The link broke because Gothic.net starred out the l o l i t a in the name 'L o l i t a Legs'.

Just remove the spaces.

So you inspired me to try out intarsia again, I haven't done it since the monkey backpack thing.

I think I'd like to do it again with sock yarn, a dice bag doesn't need to be that big and a few places are pulled too tight where it was pulled off, and its more box shaped than the original Lasombra icon, but its a good start.

Acharis 07-07-2013 01:20 AM

Woot! That looks awesome, I might have to make a dice bag of my own. I don't really play MTG anymore but there may be a Pathfinder game coming up.

Yesterday I finished my masterpiece though, which was a black velour jacket with 18th century 3/4 sleeves with lace cuffs, and frog clasps down the front (I swear those are THE most masochistic clasps ever invented, but they're oh-so-pretty). I'll post pictures later today.

Then there's also a whole heap of velvet, velour and lace skirts, and every top I own I've altered in some way, and I've made about half entirely from scratch. And how could I forget all my stockings? Not a single pair has escaped the attack of the scissors/fingernails (very handy for making runs in them!).

I really am quite a DIY maniac. I just don't feel the same sense of accomplishment or individuality when I wear something I bought from a shop.

Yeah! Another DIY lover! My wardrobe is about 95% homemade. And I love historic styles too. My masterpiece is probably a dress I made from scratch a while ago, which is black with dark blue lace trim. It's floor length, off the shoulder with elbow-length sleeves and has a little V-cut waist (great for showing off the results of my corset-related hard work). Wish I could wear it every day!

I wish I still had these but I sold them. Those hornets were so pretty.
The wire bits are all jenky but people wanted them anyway so wooo.
