Hello, my fellow darklings! Taciturn here!
I'm a bit new to the gothic subculture. I was a COMPLETE babybat two years ago and put those days behind me. Now that it's October/Halloween time, my inner goth has come out, once again, and I am now interested in "becoming goth." I have started listening to a few goth bands and started to read about the subculture. If anyone would like to give me a few pointers, feel free to comment down below. Thanks for viewing! ~Taciturn |
Welcome Taciturn....simple answer is be yourself...there is no right / wrong when it comes to being Goth...have a read of the theses threads as an insight of how we feel about being Goth perhaps...How old were you when you became goth? and What is "UNgoth" about you?.

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Not much, really. I like to browse YouTube, listen to music, eat fruits and veggies... Somewhat typical teenager stuff. 2. Where are you from? Ohio, USA 3. Who is your favorite author? I'm not much of a reader; I only like to read manga/graphic novels and cookbooks. I cook my own meals since I'm vegan :) 4. What are your favorite films? 5. What music do you want played at your wedding? David Bowie because he was once a cool cat. 6. At your funeral? David Bowie's song "Rock N' Roll Suicide" and "Five Years" to be specific... But really anything David Bowie. 7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die? Painlessly, please. Preferably not by drowning. I hate water. 8. What kind of casket would you want? I'd like a black one with some purple lace; I love the color purple. 9. What's your FAVORITE outfit? I have no clue. I can't show any pics but it's probably this slim, black, lacey dress with flower fishnet tights and my combat boots. I wear a choker and my Skyrim necklace with it, as I do everyday with every outfit. 10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid? I was a super nice girl when I was little. The world has ruined me a bit... But let me not seem so bitter! I am quite content with my life right now. 11. What's your favorite band? One name for ya: David Bowie. 12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major? I'm a Freshman in college. I will be majoring in computer science but I'd like to be an ethical hacker. 13. Why did you join? I joined this site in hopes of connecting with other goths out there. Sadly, this place seems a little dead :/ 14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender? I am a female through and through. |
Sadly most forums are a little dead these days, Facescrape seems to have done for them all....but, the more people who join, stick around and make a contribution to the site, the less dead it will be...no?

It's really hard to beat Molster's advice. All I can add is that Goth is an all year state of mind. I started to consider myself a part of the subculture in the summer between my junior and senior years of high school. Certainly not the most gothiest time of year. |
By tips I kinda meant good places to shop, good makeup brands (GOOD black lipstick can be hard to find), etc (:
