I finally arrived at my friend's place, and seeing her again made me happy.

The fact that Apple named their new product, The Ipad.

Yes, there's a treasure trove of humor to be mined from that fact, like the MAD TV comedy sketch I linked to in THIS POST!

Lord Whiskerton 02-06-2010 12:07 PM

I knew that was coming. Unfortunately, all of my outlets are occupied.

Yeah, I want to be a filmmaker when I get out of college. Merci beaucoup, mon ami.

I was in the supermarket last night and there was an elder goth lady there with the full black outfit, dyed hair and Doc Martins. She had her son with her and he was about 10. He was misbehaving and fucking off like all kids do. She suddenly turned on him and said, "Don't be a Cullen."

I fucking loved it. Twilight has become so despised that Cullen has become a term of insult spanning 2 generations of goths.

Either that, or you misheard a woman telling her child not to be sullen. ;)

He was being far from sullen. He was a hyperactive little shit.

It made my day to know that MiceElf cares what I think!

Nocturnal Logic 02-07-2010 02:41 PM

So today's my cleaning day, and I like to listen to music while I clean. I started the day off with a fair dose of Bikini Kill, then ended up finding a whole bunch of 80's Riot Grrl bands I'd never heard before. I think I just fell in love with Be Your Own Pet, they're absolutely fantastic. I've listened to a few of their songs before now just never anything in-depth.

Needless to say cleaning just got way more enjoyable. :)

I <3 Riot Grrl

So... this weekend I discovered that I can do pretty damn tasty fajitas. It was my first attempt, and I threw away the spice mix that came with the wraps in favour of making my own marinade for the chicken.

Tips for improved marinade/ home-made spice mix would be welcome- mine's just lime juice with chilli powder, a little salt, and black pepper. I like mine, and my housemate and my boyfriend like it enough that they've both asked me to make it again, but I want to experiment further.

This means the list of tasty things I can make without looking at a recipe now includes apple pie, apple crumble, sausage rolls, chicken fajitas, dark chocolate truffles and spaghetti bolognese. Recipe still required for baked New York style cheesecake. It's a very limited list, but I've only started cooking for myself in the last six months or so. Will be trying curry next- easy recipes for mild curries will be welcomed. (Korma, Malaya, Kashmiri, etc)

That sounds pretty good, actually. Others can make ingredient suggestions. I just want to make one observation. Sometimes my SO will cook something ... create a new recipe, and I will tell her I really like it, that it's perfect, and I'd like it if she made it that way again. That seems to be when she most thinks she needs to experiment with the formula further, changing it from what I like. And since she's the cook, she has that prerogative. But it's usually not as good after the additional experimenting.

There's something perverse about that.

Pineapple_Juice 02-08-2010 12:45 AM

INdeed it is! ^

What's made my day is that I got my nails did.

JethroAranas 02-08-2010 12:53 AM

My mom made me a monggo with condensed milk, my favorite. I'm gonna save some for midnight snack.

(I don't know what is monggo in English BTW. But its some kind of legumes. A greenish bean.)

New goodness from TFLN:

(717): Using Dr. Seuss quotes to ask me how badly I want your penis is not appropriate.

(480): he just invited me over for the 3 p's...pepsi pizza and porn...I'm gonna marry him

(209): I just remembered before I gave him head I couldn't find a hair tie and he offered to hold my hair up. Maybe we were wrong.. Maybe he does have a heart.

(804): my neighbors are having lesbo sex right now.
(1-804): I'm on my way.

(860): Walk of shame... his parents made me go to church with them first. in my club top sweat pants and slippers. i just slapped god in the face

Rhetorical question: "Why, oh why do the text messages of people behaving badly amuse me so?!?"

Stormtrooper of Death 02-08-2010 10:40 AM

Listening to Floodland, made my day. Never gave that album a proper spin, love it!

Well, I still know the easy recipe so that's what I'll make when I'm lazy... but I know that better mixes exist without the use of MSG, and I should like to find out what they are.

Besides... the Gent said my apple pie was great first time I made it, but after playing with the cinnamon/sugar balance he's decided he likes the new version even more. I've discovered how to get the right balance of brandy to cream in truffles, and brandy truffles appear more popular than plain chocolate truffles. So I'm hopeful I can manage something similar with the fajitas, if I can only work out where to begin...

In terms of perversion, though, it's definitely on the menu this evening- I'm going to my local munch for a nice night out with other kinky perverts.

Seeing the tombstone of Mel Blanc, who supplied the voice of Bugs Bunny and hundreds of other Warner Brother's cartoon characters. Didn't we all learn sarcasm from Bugs Bunny?

Anyway, Mel Blanc's tombstone:
