Define trying hard.

Anarasha 11-09-2009 11:38 AM

Well, to me, it has been a lot. I tried cutting down my food, I am gonna start working out after christmas(all my money is dedicated to presents and stuff before, so..) and I have worked in a considerably more healthy lifestyle with dark bread and fruit smoothies, I have tried eating carrots instead of too much bread and stuff like that. During periods of my life, I managed to lose some weight. 14 kilos in 3 months once, but I gained that back. Lately, I managed to lose some weight, gain it again, lose some and so on. I am gonna get a perscription on pills to help me and stuff, but the doctor still agrees that I should go through with surgery if possible.

JCC 11-09-2009 11:39 AM

Dude, fruit smoothies are all sugar. You might as well eat candy floss and say you're dieting.

blindNsect 11-09-2009 11:42 AM

Why wait til after Christmas to start exercising? That's the kind of mentality that keeps people fat. You can start now, it doesnt cost money. I hate going to the local lake to run as well, but I have to or I will blow up.

With your size you sould be working out lioke at east 30 minutes per day, and strenuously.

Anarasha 11-09-2009 11:42 AM

Not the stuff I blend myself :) That is pure fruit and youghurt.
blindNsect - I suppose you are right. I will have to work on that :) And after christmas, I will enroll at the nearest gym as well.

blindNsect 11-09-2009 11:48 AM

Don't waste your money. Utilize what the community offers. Much easier to keep running when you have landmarks to mark your progress and entertain your eyes instead of a blank wall or whatever while running on a treadmill.

Anarasha 11-09-2009 11:49 AM

Actually, I find working out at the gym to be entertaining, and I can do that in any kind of weather and not really get sick :P

Dude as long as your disciplined enough at going regularly, and eating healthy you should lose the weight in no time.

blindNsect 11-09-2009 11:51 AM

Ok. Waste your money ;P

Anarasha 11-09-2009 11:53 AM

I will, I enjoy it :P
And Jin, it's a different case for me. When I'm not stressed, I can hail off the weight in no time, but when I am, I gain it all back. That is why I need the surgery, to make sure I can't eat more when I'm stressed than when I'm not. My biggest problem is, that in order to truly reach the feeling of being full, I have to eat insane amounts of everything.

LovelyxBlackLace 11-09-2009 12:00 PM

Exercise definitely helps.
I swim like ten laps every morning, it's a good way to start the day

Yeah. Procrastination diets never work out. When I say I'll just diet tomorrow, I usually pig out; then the next day I say the same thing and the cycle repeats...

Just watch what you eat. Try the Sacred Heart Diet. I lost like 6 pounds in a week.

Pure fruit is why it is so sugary. Smoothies are bad for you. Putting dairy in it is even worse.

blindNsect 11-09-2009 12:08 PM

The body requires sugar and diary.

JCC 11-09-2009 12:12 PM

The body requires fats too, is eating lard dieting?

Anarasha 11-09-2009 12:18 PM

Well, my advisor when it comes to food - a professional employed at the hospital where I go to check up on my progress - told me to go for the smoothies as they count towards the 600g of fruit and stuff the body needs every day

Yeah, but how many fruit are you crushing to make your smoothies? I mean, fuck, man, just eat an apple.

Anarasha 11-09-2009 12:24 PM

I blend only a few houndred grams of fruit a day, it's not like I drink litres of them per day ^^

honeythorn 11-09-2009 12:48 PM

Bananas are among the "worst" fruits you can have by the way so if you're having those then cut them . Bananas are absolutely FULL of sugar. All fruits are of course but they are the biggest culprits. While they do thicken up a smoothie, they also add far too much sugar so it may be better to just not have them at all really. Or have one occasionally as a treat. If you want to thicken a smoothie then use low or non fat greek style plain yoghurt ( or the soya equivalent )

Smoothies also don't fill you up. Since you've blended the fruit and are drinking it, you haven't chewed which starts the digestion and tells the stomach that food is on the way , you body will think - Drink--->absorb---bladder, not Chewchew----process/digest---full feeling.

Not sure if that makes sense to the reading eye? Just drinking liquid fruit won't make you feel full. EATING the fruit over the course of the day between small meals will help you feel more satisfied, and you'll be less likely to want great big portions.

Also, completely cut processed sugar/sweetner in any tea or coffee you have, drink a lot more water and really avoid junk food, biscuits, cakes ect. Have one very occasionally so you don't completely alienate yourself from nice foods, but don't have them every day or even every week. Once a month perhaps is better.

Anarasha 11-09-2009 01:02 PM

Aye, it does make sense :) I thank you all for the advice and support, I think I kinda needed that.

PortraitOfSanity 11-09-2009 01:49 PM

All this talk of dieting is making me hungry. You guys think Burger King, Wendy's, or the rat-infested-yet-tasty Mexican joint?

LovelyxBlackLace 11-09-2009 01:52 PM

No thanks...

I'm not hungry.
