There are more distortion pedals than you can shake a stick at, but a few good brands are, in order of price (on average)

Digitech - Good if you like a variety of tones from a single pedal.
Boss- Good if you're looking for a few particular tones that are hard to recreate.
MXR - A solid line, good stuff, Mark Morton of Lamb of God uses this
Electro-Harmonix - these are analog, not digital effects, they sound absolutely amazing but are pricey as hell.

As for chorus? Digitech makes good ones, as does Boss. Again, Boss have better singular tones, Digitech is the jack of all trades.

If you're on a tight budget? Danelectro's FAB line are all about 15 dollars a piece, and their chorus is actually very good, along with their Echo, almost on par with Boss. Their distortions leave much to be desired.
