It's tough to compare pricing as there's the issue of which models have more recent software, and differing details such as storage size and features. But here's a comparison from Amazon.com:

If you match up comparable current units, there's not that much of a difference in price. The savings people are finding on Zunes are when they are buying previous generation models.
