I do treat people the way that I want to be treated. I prefer that others are totally honest with me as well.

I'm pretty sure that he is telling me that I've been honest and haven't been coddling people who are adults and should be able to cope with being called out.

So if you don't accept him as a TRUE deity but do accept him as a deity, doesn't this mean that you are stating that he is in fact a FALSE deity (seeing that anything that isn't true must needs be false)?
Which is in fact, not actually accepting him as a deity at all.
