Yeah, unless its severe or the Prilosec doesn't work, try it first.
I experienced no side effects from it after my last surgery. Plus it is much cheaper than most of the prescription meds.
Also try not to lay down right after you eat, and avoid greasy, fatty foods. That makes a tremendous difference as well.
