ANOTHER REASON TO LIKE WISCONSINITES:
The Madison, WI City Council voted 15-4 on Tuesday to name the plastic pink flamingo the official city bird, in honor of the 1979 prank in which University of Wisconsin students placed more than 1,000 pink plastic flamingos on Bascom Hill, near the dean’s office. Alderwoman Marsha Rummel says that event “signifies something that makes us a very special place” and is “captured in our imaginations forever.”
