I've tried to give people the benefit of the doubt and show tolerance when I really shouldn't have.
I'm relieved to say that I didn't end up getting intimate with any of these douchebags, but I still regret that I was unaware of the full extent of their racism/sexism/misogyny/controlling behaviour/deceit... and at some level tried to tolerate the little I was aware of.
Not a good feeling.
