Funny story, in my research on unicorns and gender, I could only find four books, out of all the countless unicorn books with girls and unicorns on the cover, that had a boy or man with a unicorn on the cover. Two were children's books, the other two were romance ebooks. One of them had a plot kinda like that. Only instead of the girl dying the guy turns into a bishie type guy and ravishes her.
