No, grammar is the rules of the language. Also, your comprehension is not quite as good as you'd like to think it is, since my post was obviously pointing out the irony of when someone tries to correct spelling and doesn't use correct punctuation. Which by the way, is the indication of the structure of the sentence itself. And yes, punctuation and mechanics are the same thing.
And yes, the period should
most likely be inside the quotation marks for absurd reasons that I don't necessarily agree with, since the original quote I was in fact quoting did not originally include a period to begin with. Americans and their grammar are quite iffy and annoying at times, but alas years of English and majoring in said subject has made me know all kinds of rules from America and Britain.
British English is so much better.
