Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

Any music like this in your repertoire you could recommend to me?

Hopefully there's a link above this writing that works...

I really like this song, but I cannot say that I have ever listened to something quite like it... what genre would you call this? I usually stick to stuff like Meatloaf or Dommin. But I would really like to know artists that do the same style illustrated in the video.

OH, and if you don't want so sit through a long intro, skip ot 1:39 in the video.
The climax (I guess thats what its called when its the best part of a song) would be shortly after 2:35. If you watch from 2:40-3:15 I think you would get a pretty good sense of what this song is like.

First off, one of the comments said it reminded them of Pink Floyd. I wasn't hearing it myself, but if you want Floyd-esque goth Rock, Fields of the Nephilim actually had an album produced *by* the same people as Pink Floyd. See:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCMm1mJ3DRs (Fields of the Nephilim - Sumerland)

The song kind of reminds me of a less-stressed Pornography-era The Cure at times, and the artist listed The Cure as an influence:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unLUq7n9mb4 (The Cure - The Figurehead)

But it sounds like generic goth rock most of the time. I mean, going by the looks, it looks like a parody of goth rock more than anything.

If you like that low-grow-type vocal style, go listen to Sisters of Mercy or Tiamat (etc):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuezNswtRfo (Sisters of Mercy - Lucretia, My Reflection)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqyjQ6-avK8 (Tiamat - Brighter than the Sun)

Or if you mean you want some 'goth' music that doesn't take itself seriously (at least it seemed that way from the music video -- I sure hope they weren't taking themselves seriously), with less mind to actual musical style, there is always Voltaire:

You may enjoy "Sleep Isabella" by Abney Park.
