I read about that in the German news and I was shocked. These guys are serious, and for those who haven't read the story, they have a step-by-step program to uplift all laws prohobiting sex with children. These people would legalise sex with a two-year-old. Children as young as twelve, they say, should drink alcohol, smoke, and act in porn films. Seems they want to legalise sexual exploitation and abuse.
I don't know whether I'm angrier at the party or at those people who said banning them was wrong because that would be censorship...

Well, arnt they? I mean if it was really okay to have sex with a twelve year old wouldnt more people be doing it? And how do they figure children should be allowed to drink and smoke? Some people are just really sick.

I think shocked is an understatement here. It's vulgair. I am absolutely not into politics, but if they can get away with this, I WILL be on the frontline protesting!

Soft drugs, prostitution and gay marriage is not a criminal act, having sex with minors is!

What's next, murderers starting a politcal party because they feel left out?

Thanks for the replies... I'll post some more 'strange/weird' politics threads in the future (my 2 years of college so far has been spent as a political science major).

While I never rush to judge or condemn anyone, what these 'people' (I put that in quotations because I question their basic humanity) do is not a victimless crime... when there are victims involved I do feel the right to judge someone. In this case, they want to make it legal for them to prey on children, most of whom are at an age where they are vulnerable to these 'people' because they are still innocents in most ways.

Yes, this is very sickening... but I thought it would be something people might want to get involved in. Does anyone know whether the EU would take action against the Dutch if this does come to pass? (my field of study in politics is the Middle East, not Europe).

Well i couldn't say for definite, but i'm pretty positive that the EU would take major action against the Dutch if this does come to pass.
Actually the United Nations would probably take a very strong stance on this and have them overthrown or something.

Did you know that the age of consent in Japan is 12? And many girls sell their bodies to tourist and rich Japanese men after school for extra pocket money? An age of consent that low just opens the door to this sort of exploitation.

That group want child-pornography to be legal, why don't they realise the trauma and pain caused to the innocent children who are forced into sex and violently abused for the production of the porn? They can't have child-porn without destroying the lives of children.

I'm surprised this party hasn't reached the news in the UK.

Speaking of which, there was talk of changing the legal age here (UK) a couple years ago. There was a request to have it changed to 13 but it wasn't passed because of the whole paedophile issue.

Woah i never heard anyhting about that, 13 is far too young. I think 16 is about the right age, there is a huge difference in maturity between the ages of 13 and 16.

I've always wondered what the age of consent in America is by the way, sometimes i've heard it's 18 but then i've seen movies where Americans are getting married at 15. Someone here must know?

it did get to england, there was an article on it in The Independent a few weeks ago. i was pretty sickened when i read it.

the only thing i can see coming out of this is more children who don't really understand what's going on being exploited. there is an argument for children being more sexual than society accepts (freud and all that, personally i think it's bollocks as i can clearly remember being about thirteen before sex ever really entered my consciousness and it's probably biologically programmed that way) but porn can be exploiting fully grown adults.

it's just dangerous

I'm so shocked that the only thing in my mind is "No-no, guys, not like this!" What is with people today, why must they try to ruin children's lives? Paedophilia is forbidden for a reason! I'm studying psychology and I can't even bear to think about the trauma sex and porn will cause to the kids.

Geez... and I've been told I'm a psychopath!

Now I'm getting worried... people want to normalize sex with animals and kids, and they aren't laughed and pointed at? They aren't yelled at loud in public? What's wrong with people? What next? Normalize sex with the dead? Legalize heavy drugs?

werewolfann-yeah, but did you know that eating pork and shellfish is also forbiden in the OT? So's masturbation ("better to spill your seed in the womb of a prostitute than let it drop to the ground", or something similar). The OT also states that the sun revolves around the earth, and it contradicts itself as far as homosexuality is concerned.

My advice? Don't use the bible as a trump-card argument. Whilst it's great on a sociological level, it's a spiritual guide, NOT a factual one.

child-of-fury-here in the US, a lot of the people who equate homosexuality with incest and bestiality are secretly trying to REMOVE laws against bestiality from the books. And they don't get laughed or pointed at. They get elected into congress.

JM-age of consent laws vary from state to state. The 18 rule is only in (if I remember correctly) 15 states, with the rest going younger.8 states have it at 17, while 27 states are at 16. Then there are a few states which have fairly wonky laws (in Georgia, it's totally illegal for an unmarried couple to have sex, period. Then you also have states where age of consent for same-sex couples is lower than for straight couples. Also, a lot of states have laws stating that if the person is underage, but the person they're sleeping with is within a certain amount of years older, then it's perfectly legal. Most states have this difference set at around 5 years, but quite a few say that as long as you're under the age of 30, then it's perfectly OK to bang somebody who isn't younger than 13. And of coure a lot of states have right-to-marry laws that are younger than right to consent laws, thus making the consent laws null and void if a 14 year old marries.)

Ok, blame the six hours in the train for nothing, but you really hit the wrong snare with this comment.

First of all: this group does not want to legalise sex with animals. I have read their program, and they have no such intensions. They 'just' want to legalise sex for people above 12, and legalise the possession (NOT the making) of child porn. As sickening as it is.

Don't believe everything you read. Especially when you read it 'somewhere'.

Second: it's forbidden in the OT. So what, since when was mixing religion and politics a good thing? (and yes, I dare you, name ONE example).

Third: What is happening to EUROPE??? Please remember, that the US is THE BIGGEST PRODUCER OF PORN (including bestiality/child porn etc etc) IN THE WORLD!

Now go, and think before you make blatant generalisations.

There is one thing about kids being molested that I despise most.....Who wants to have sex with a pedophile since he got into the little girl's pussy anyways (excuse my insanely mad voice)? It's as disgusting and morally offensive as having sex with a dog. For me, it's way better for a 16-17 year old girl to have sex with a person of her age than to have a 9-year old girl being ***** by a 40- year old man. Man, I hate misogyny against these girls as well. And yes, child porn is in full excess here in Missouri.
Even I was appalled by the age of consent in Japan. Doesn't mean that all Japanese are dirty filthy criminals. But here's a shocker for you. In Iran, the age of consentual sex is 9 years old. Women are treated like animals there as well.

Even that even caused the sex-offender registration rage. Personally, I wouldn't dare go with my child to a very perverted middle-age man and have him **** her. This just enflames me to death.

And I thought that I'm paranoid over nothing.
