Woman Killed by Husband's Coffin
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...13/2418871.htm
A rear-end car accident involving a hearse resulted in the death of the widow of the deceased. Check the link for sparse and uninformative details.
Now I shall run away and sit on my hands, as I have probably posted more here today than I have in the last four years.

Wow, that was weird. Well, as long as they are at the cemetery, just open the coffin and throw her in there too. Kill two birds with one...never mind.

I'm not sure if that's just really sad or really funny.
Perhaps darkly humorous..?

To me it sounds like the end of a '60s or '70s B horror movie. Kind of like "Tomb of Ligeia". So, yes. It's hilarious.

This reminds me of the motorhead song "Killed By Death"
On another note I'm not sure whether to laugh or feel terrible for wanting to laugh.

I saw that in the paper, it made my day. If I died like that, I wouldn't have a problem with people I don't know finding amusement in it.

Exactly. This sounds like it should have been in Dead Like Me, or Six Feet Under.

I'm trying not to find it funny but all I can think of is "what was the widow thinking just before it happened?"
"How can I possibly go on with my life without you?!" BAM!
"Oh my god, I'm free at last!" BAM!
Husband's ghost: "And I'm taking you with me!"

I would have found it funnier if she had been looking down into the open coffin and the lid had come down for some reason on her and killed her that way.

That's pretty tragic.
Does anyone know if Hearses typically have a way of latching down or securing coffins to avoid this sort of thing?

HA! When it's your time, it's your time...
At least she doesn't have to spend her "golden years" pining away for her dead husband. Also, if there's an afterlife, they're together now...
And it is kind of a humorous kick in the ass from fate, is it not? heeheehee
