Yet another poem!

'Mammals Dwell Deep'

Neon fire darts across your scalp,
I've been watching you for so long.
Water washes over all,
burns with contradictory delight.
The ringing drifts forth,
like flakes from charred bibles,
to settle gently on my brow.
Perhaps you're it,
the chaser in this dueling duet.
Perhaps you've always been it.
Perhaps I've simply lacked the foresight
to imagine an 'us' before.
A keen glistening and a sharp toll
alert me to your presence.
Again, I am surprised at the synchronistic ways
of our idiosyncrasies.
There's a first time for everything.
For that, I'm glad.

(I would love to be a published author/poet. Got any constructive criticisms and/or general feedback ?)
