Hello forum members
Hey there. I'm Josephine. I'm new to the forum and thought I should post an introduction, maybe meet some new people. I saw these questions in a few others posts, so I thought I'd use them too.
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm a High School student. I like to write (fantasy, romance, horror...most genres but Mystery interest me. I've never really been a mystery type. I'm currently writing a nice little fiction about the Greek (I dislike the Roman names for the Gods) Gods, in particular Terra, a Goddess similar to Demeter and Gaea), and I love music (Emilie Autumn is my favorite. Coming in close second is Queen and The Beatles), and I love to read (I think I've read most of the good fiction books in my school library, because of the lack of horror - romance novels in a High School library, and have moved on to reading about Philosophy and Religion).
2. Where are you from?
Raleigh, North Carolina (In the United States). I was born here, but lived in Cary, North Carolina for the first 4 or so years of my life.
3. Who is your favorite author?
Picking one favorite would be like picking your favorite parent. Anne Rice and her wonderful Vampire Chronicles (I am head - over - heels for Lestat de Lioncourt), J.K. Rowling, Louisa May Alcott (I was fairly amused to find that I shared so much in common with Josephine March, and grew to love my name a little bit more.)
4. What are your favorite films?
Sweeney Todd, Phantom of the Opera, Interview with the Vampire, Little Women
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Juliet by Emilie Autumn
6. At your funeral?
Shalott by Emilie Autumn, Too Much Love Will Kill You by Queen
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Knowing I've done everything I could to save the world, with all my affairs in order.
8. What kind of casket would you want?
A simple, Ebony coffin. Nothing special.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Long black skirt, Deep purple blouse, black flats.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
I'm only 15, but I do miss the innocence (I hate spelling that word) I held as a child.
11. What's your favorite band?
Emilie Autumn, Queen, The Beatles
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I'm in High School. I do plan on going to college.
13. Why did you join?
Because there aren't many goths in my town. I want to make a few new friends.
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
I'm a female =)

Terra is Roman, not Greek.

Do you think maybe you've ran out of books to read from your school library because you insist on reading shitty authors like JK Rowling and Anne Rice?

Welcome, Ourange.
I hate to say, "She's only 15 - give her a break", because she really ought to be more familiar with her passions. However, this one could have potential if she sticks around, is willing to learn, and accepts her mistakes with good grace. She would certainly benefit from having her horizon expanded.

Why?
...... Wait, you also like Anne Rice and Emilie Autumn. Never mind.

Welcome, you seem a bit naive but nice enough, enjoy your stay.

Sorry but you are a bit off with that, Terra is the Roman equivalent of Gaea, Demeter is a different character entirely. Also since you said you like the Greek names better I just wanted to make sure that you do know that they are not exactly the same deities, they are incredibly similar (mainly due to the fact that the Roman deities are based on the Greek) but they are different in more than just name, which is actually why most have different names and those with the same or similar name are more direct transplants (hence why Apollo is the same deity, and why Persephone and Proserpina are also pretty much identical).

I thought the same thing about that Lovely Black Lace chick until she proved that in fact, if it walks like a moron and talks like a moron, the chances of improvement are probably miniscule at best.

It is a pretty good way to weed out the weaklings - not infallible, but pretty good.
EDIT: I notice she hasn't been back...

Weed out the weaklings? Weed them out from what? And for what purpose? What do you even mean by "weakling"? This is a fucking internet forum, not the Navy SEAL training program.
I'd say welcome, Ourange, but you're probably not logging back on any time soon.

Judging by Ophelia's Snorkel's posts in this thread, I believe her to be under the impression that gothic.net is an elite Preparatory School for Girls, located in Bennington, Vermont, of which she is the Headmistress.

Actually from what I've seen gothic.net is twitter for goths.

I wondered why tuition payments started showing up in my bank account...
Don't lie to yourselves, Maxi and Pith. You know everyone with the slightest weakness in his or her education or social skills is hazed upon arrival here. It's not a bad thing, as only those who really want to be part of this forum end up staying through it.

Eh what's so great about the Greek gods? What about Egypt? I think Ra could totally kick Zeus' ass.

Hehe it was meant to be funny!
I pictured myself with my hands on my hips, ready to start a fight about how "our god is mightier that their god".

This makes sense.
I know in this community intellectual hazing is a standard && I will agree sometimes it does help weed out a douchebag or two...
but
How are we supposed to keep the community alive if we reem out every potential Newbie. If they have that certain potential to develope better tastes && actually learn about what the Gothic Subculture is && where its roots came from ... then why can we not make suggestions to help them - it could turn out to be for the better.
&& Yes fellow posters ... I realize when some Newbies arrive they are already beyond the point of no return. But we don't have to be such pretentious bastards all the time. It doesn't always help.

Wear a Xena armour while doing that, and I'm sold.
