Hahaha, I went to a pro-choice rally the other day and lots of old anti-choicers walked up to us to patronize us ("what do you think about sex selective abortion? Your mothers were prolife, so glad you were born"), and I just wish I had the gif set
Maybe I should just print it off and slap it on a protest sign.
Also now when I'm on gnet it keeps giving me ads for conflict free/eco friendly engagement rings. Its hard being part of Gnet's OTP.

I have to write a "manifesto" basically talking about how Gender Studies over the years has changed my views on things and where to go from there, but I'm not the manifesto type.
Its like, I think this would work, maybe, if we all try, if we can get everyone's input and consensus on it.
I just think manifestos work better as group projects.

Feeling a bit less misanthropic/more optimistic today. After yesterdays rant I went and spoke to someone I hadn't tried yet, and this time actually got taken really seriously.
Made some delicious food to stuff in my face hole, and had a couple of opshop scores.

Some scum bag tried to steal my painkillers outside the chemist. Luckily my one good arm was full of strength and warded him off. No one steals my painkillers, no one.

Sometimes, I get a feeling of inferiority and think the world doesn't revolve around me... but then I remember that it does, and it's all ok again.

Its hard studying Psychology of Gender when the text book keeps bringing up points I think will be good for arguments about gender essentialism and evolutionary psychology.

That sucks, I've heard that about a lot of psychology of gender courses. I mean I get how and why it seems to happen, it just saddens me because my gender psych course was so awesome about breaking down gender as a social construct, we had real, sometimes volatile discussions about sexism, homophobia, cis-privilege, and so much more.

Oh, maybe that came out wrong! I meant I like how it debunks a lot of evo-psych and gender essentialist stuff, and I tried to commit to memory the stuff I can definitely use again when people try to argue with me. I took it by distance so there wasn't any great discussions (more than a few posts made me want to spork out my eyes actually) and the sections on trans* and lgbt, particularly bisexuality, made me want to cry. Like, the author kept referring to trans people by their assigned at birth sexes, so if she was referring to a transwoman, she'd keep saying "he"...but she didn't so much with transmen.
With the bisexuality stuff, there was just this attitude that hetero, gay and bi are the only three sexual orientations, man and woman are the only two gender identities you can have, and while she admitted bisexuality is very poorly researched, she referred to that study that showed bisexual men don't exist (it was redone last year and found yes, bisexual men exist! how quickly textbooks are out of date) and said bisexuality probably is a "transitional" phase, since SOME end up identifying as gay or lesbian later in life.
I hate the testing though, its all multiple choice and there were a lot of questions whose answers weren't all wrong, but it was hard to really pick out which one was the most right. I haven't taken a psych exam in years (the 2005-2006 academic year to be precise) and it was the only exam we had, so I felt really unprepared. If I passed, I don't think I did very well. But oh well, its just an elective >.> Hurts my GPA but if I go onto masters they only care about my Religious Studies grades.

Well, my clumsiness reigns supreme again. I have now managed to twist the ligaments round my ankle. My ankle is the size of an grapefruit and is now encased in a very fetching tubergrip. One of these days I'll have something other than an injury to report on the boards!

According to the time ticker thing up in the corner this is the first time I've logged on here in six years, the last time being when this was still GotGoth, I think. Or maybe I'm thinking of a different website.
Good heavens.
The fun of going through old inboxes.

Pinterest has gone from something I do when I'm bored to full on addiction and I'm completely okay with this.

I don't mind at all! I have the same name as on here, which is fairly unique so searching by that should bring me up.
