Dude seriously, man up. Dump your evil girlfriend, then call this chick up and go "So I want to see these guys play and don't have anybody to go with. Would you want to go if I fix you up a ticket?" Make it clear that you don't mind paying as you want to see the band and would like her company, and are expecting nothing BUT her company in return. If she feels bad accepting your money, tell her you would like to take her, and if it makes her feel better she can take you for a drink sometime when the broke spell is over. If she remains non-committal without giving any particular reason, she's probably not that into you, bro.

I am determined that we will help you as much as possible in the troublesome teenage years you're about to enter so that when you come out of them you're a goddamn superman.

Will do, hun. However, given your intelligence and maturity I doubt I'll need to.

Did you join and sound this awesome at the age of 11 (now 12)?
I think he's shown a pretty exceptional aptitude for rolling with the adults here and carrying himself smartly.
Oh, and SS ... Happy Birthday!

Well, your sign up date lists as 2007, yet you're legal now? How is that possible?
Were you here under a different alias previously?
Oh, and BTW, you just agreed that he sounds as awesome as you did. *snerk*

I'm 17 now, I was 12 then. I have March 2006 in my head for some reason, I might have had a previous alias I forgot about but yeah, 12.

Question is, do I pay for her ticket, and if so how do I break the idea to her? If I turn round and say "oh hey I actually got two tickets, want one?" it'll be fairly obvious that I bought the second one for her (it would be obvious to me anyway) and that's a whole 'burden of expectation' type thing whereby I have given her a social obligation to come with me without first having asked her permission.
But then if I do ask her permission to buy her the ticket that seems a little, I don't know, desperate? Needy?
I mean I could take great pains to explain that I don't really care about the price of the ticket, if she doesn't want it I'll either give it to someone else or sell it to one of the vendors you always get outside, but then that would dispel anything positive she might take from the fact that I bought her the ticket.
Background info: girl I met at a party years and years ago, took a shine to her but barely said a word, added her on facebook anyway. About 6 months ago struck up conversation on the internet, talked semi-regularly and mutually divulged sensitive information about our private lives. Haven't seen her in person since the initial meeting which hardly even counts.

I agree with Ben, you should just go for it, what have you got to loose ?
Just do it !!!.

I'd just like to clarify for Ben that Spooky Spencer is actually far, far better than I was and if I could delete my account and start over, I would.

He beats you by a little bit and frankly even though you've been awesome for years, I can't remember you being remarkable from the start. Then again maybe I just can't remember because it's been four years.
I don't know, but you should be happy if a younger kid manages to be better than you were at his age.

I'm not so quick to come to that conclusion. Spooky Spencer has yet to voice his opinions on the issues that matter to me. For all we know, he could be a more polite Deadman. Until I hear what he thinks about things like Saya's legs, Street Fighter, and whiskey, he will remain very distant from my heart.

I wouldn't say that. I've enjoyed your commentary since I first encountered it ... even when I disagreed with it. I get the sarcasm, but there really is no need to A) say he is far, far better or B) that you should delete and start over if you could (because that's just silly - If I went back in time and relived my life from the age 12 again, I would be the same person and would do the same things.)
Also, it just so happens that I think we need a precociously intelligent kid here to take under our wing and nurture, someone who says cute/wise things from time to time and astonishes us with the maturity of their comments. (In other words, Spooky Spencer, don't let all the attention go to your head!)
Finally JCC, how do we know Spooky Spencer ISN'T your sock puppet? Except for the lack of reference to certain philosophers/writers, he seems to talk a lot like you!

Idiot! Tickets have already sold out. Seems some greedy capitalist is willing to sell for £60 each, rather than £30, but goddamn I'm not buying two of those.

Yikes. No pressure...!
I have no intention of being better or beating anyone at anything. There just isn't many cool boards out there that aren't full of penis pill ads and fights over whatever, and almost everyone around here seems to be smart, fun, and pretty cool even if they get outta hand once in a while.
Versus:
Saya's legs - haven't seem 'em. Not opposed to it. Linkage?
Street Fighter - I know of it. Isn't the second one supposed to be better?
Whiskey - never tried it. I'm still not old enough to buy it, even in Alabama. My dad's a beer guy (Sam Adams), so no whiskey in the house.

Tell your dad that you want to be a man and are tired of sneaking mom's Sam Adams back to your room. That should either get you a punch to the mouth, or a glass of whiskey. Good luck!
