Still, Why would one want to go to a graveyard at night? You can't see anything. Well, maybe a little because of the moon, but come on! What's there to do?

The same thing there is to do during the day.
Night to me is far more relaxing and is the time when my senses are most alert (I don't know if it's that way for everyone). It's a time when I feel more attune with nature and the world around me.
Usually if I go to a graveyard at night it's to relax, meditate, reflect, etc. It's my nice little sanctuary.
And you can see things at night, often thing your eyes would miss in the daylight. Personally, I "see" a lot better at night than in daylight.

To look for zombies, of course. ^^
Also, if you get into a fight with a demon at night, it's generally accepted that staying holy ground will squash any possibility of getting killed.

Well Mirei Raven, some people have better night vision then others. From what you say, it sounds like you have some good night vision.

There was this tiny field in my hometown just up the street from where I was living. It was full of tall grasses and surrounded by old oaks, so it was the perfect place for me and my friends to go get stoned without being seen. A year later after we started going there, I tripped over an old headstone, and we discovered that it was an ancient cemetery. The place looked like it hadn't been cared for in over a century, which isn't so surprising since we never found any headstones with dates as recent as the Civil War.

Thanks HP I really appreciate your thoughts. ^_^
On most of the headstones there was no writing. it had worn away for so long there's nothing but weathered stone left.
The one I turned negative has writing on the headstone that's next too it. But I didn't have time to read it.
I'm gonna try and get more pictures from another church/ grave yard soon. same kinda stuff but more ivy growing. That's my fave type

Maple Hill cemetery in Huntsville, AL is one of the most beautiful places in the world to me. It's just under 100 acres (freaking huge) and founded in 1822. Miles and miles of old-fashioned personal gravestones, several mausoleums, and Dead Children's Playground just down the road. My girl and I are having a picnic there soon.

I go to graveyards very rarely, normally only to visit family graves. I went through a stage of visiting the site of my grandmother's ashes (they were scattered in the graveyard of the church she attended) quite often, to talk to her. It was a bit of a rough time.
The graveyard to the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool is awesome; it's way below the Cathedral itself, situated in the quarry from which the Cathedral stone was cut. Most of the graves are old and worn, and there are a few elaborate headstones with anchors and such. Standing in the graveyard looking up at the Cathedral on a cloudy day is quite something.

i walked to the local cemetary here,it's nothing special but it was peaceful, even with the calf deep snow,it was strange because like a half mile away was a church playing music with their bells and it was really awesome walking around the graveyard with the bells in the background.

I don't hang out in graveyards but they are nice.
These two pictures are of the churches in my town and the one next to it (sourced from google, not my own)
St Mary's Church
All Saints Church
I also have pictures I took on a school history trip to Belgium, it was quite a few years ago and I don't actually remember the names of the cemeteries. These are WWI memorial sites.
German burial site: Pic 1 Pic 2
I believe these graves were dug for german soldiers by the allies and to save time the bodies were placed standing up, with 6 or 8 people marked by each of the stones on that second picture.
Various memorial sites: Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3, Pic 4, Pic 5, Pic 6
And Pic 7 "The Danger Tree", location of one of the few gaps in the barbed wire that seperated the german and allied trenches at Beaumont Hamel.

I do it all of the time. I have a huge cemetery down the street from my house (cemetery, not graveyard, graveyards are attached to a church by definition and cemeteries are free standing on their own). It is quiet, peaceful, and has a lot of very beautiful statues and old gravestones to admire. Lay out a blanket and smoke a clove and it is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Oh yea, is hanging out at a graveyard/cemetery legal? I live in Ontario Canada. We seem to have picky little laws about everything. In any case, I agree with crucifix, that does sound like a nice way to spend an afternoon.

I just remembered I have some photos of a beautiful graveyard right by the side of the highway between my home town and my university town.

Edit: My dad took most of the photos there. Mine sucked because I had no tripod and a crappy camera. I also had to adjust all the photos, cuz for some reason the cameras didn't like the type of light they use and so the light was green instead of warm-yellowish, and not just slightly green. I mean bright candy-bubble-gum green.

I love the way the shadows play on the ground. Beautiful and haunting.

Indeed, indeed. I made my parents drive back 20 minutes after I finally convinced them it was worth taking a picture of, and then we spent half an hour or 45 minutes taking photos, which meant that it was about an hour and a half added onto the trip....
