Fucking Chicago winter needs to fucking end already. It's fucking March for fuck's sake. We don't even have a spring here anymore. One week in April it's like -10, the next week it's 65. Woohoo, winter into summer! Fuck the Great Lakes!

PoS: We're having weird weather down here in the South as well. Saturday was beautiful and slightly warm [if rainy], then on Sunday we had snow and it was freezing. [Snow is a huge rarity down here, and it's only during odd weather that we have it.]

Yeah I think that band of weather is currently going through this area and Newport News is completely unprepared to deal with it. Back home schools maybe would have had a small delay opening but here there is still snow on the roads and everything in canceled, even my university has shut down any nonessential services.

Student grant-loan-money kitten-molesters
Mum
Me
Pre-uni: apply for all relevant loans and grants
First year: receive loan and grant
Three months later: Whoops, we didn't mean to give you a grant. Okay, what do I do? Nothing, we'll take it out of your remaining loan. Okay, sure.
Upon leaving uni: I got some letters from the student loan people saying they need you start repayments, but that's automatic once you're earning over 15k/year so they won't be taking anything
Two years later (December 08): Hey! Where's our overpayment, bitch? What? You said you'd take it out of my loan! Yeah, we're nothing to do with the Loans company, we just want the money, give us the money. But I'm earning very little and you never said anything about it before! We want a grand and a half. But... what? Fine. I'll set up a payment plan. Good, how's £100/month? Eh? What? No! I can give you maybe £50. Fine, we'll send you all the details and you can pay us pack at £50/month. Fine. Send me the details.
Last week: Hey! Where's our overpayment, bitch? We want a grand a half by the end of the week! What? But I asked for details to set up a monthly repayment! Good, do you want to continue with it? You... you never set it up. I haven't heard anything from you in nearly three months. You said you'd take it out of my loan, then you said you'd set up a repayment, and you didn't. We're nothing to do with the Student Loans Company. The letters I got are on Student Loan headed paper! We have nothing to do with them. Nothing. At all. We just want your money. Call us back within 48 hours with everything to prove exactly how much you pay each month in food, rent, transport and everything, or we'll demand the full amount again. Ah... what? I... you know what? Fine. *hangs up* *stares in horror at handset. Cries*
They messed up their maths, sent me money they shouldn't, said they'd take it out of my remaining loan rather than grant-that-does-not-exist-anymore, ignored it for so long that I assumed they must have taken it from the loan (the next loan being so very fucking late that I ate into my own savings and this much lateness only being explained by someone playing with paperwork in their terrible lairs), began sending letters to my mum, who assumed it was the SLC and that it was therefore just scare tactics in case they could shake money out of students early, finally actually sent *me* something, ignored my response, sent me the exact same letter but with dates changed, told me that they couldn't defer any kind of payment unless I could prove my every monthly expense within forty eight hours, and then hung up on me.
Also my landlord seems to have forgotten that I am a tenant here, as he sent people round to look at the house who wanted access to my room. While I was at work. Without notifying me. He has my email, my phone number, and my work details- not to mention my current address! I'm not letting anyone into my room unless I have advance notice, from him. I pay my rent, bills and council tax on time, sometimes even early, and never so much as a penny short. I dutifully fix the central heating timer every time the rest of the household plays with switches and resets it. I do not spill things, have loud parties, or have guests. For this, I will expect that he at least give me proper warning and time to reschedule the visits, via any of many contact methods he has for me.

Well, drunken emails will happen. There's meant to be some kind of thing for GMail and others that doesn't let you in if you're drunk enough that you can't do basic maths.
My own rant- goddamn, the Post Office really is shit.

Has anyone else noticed that we seem to have a lot of old members returning recently....and most of them suck? I thought that once Gnet put the stop to new members maybe the influx of morons would drop but it's remained about the same because the returning morons are making up the difference.
Not that I'm bashing all returning members--we've had a couple interesting people return--but it seems like we've had an odd number of people with an average of 11 posts and no avatar suddenly returning to announce, "I'm back" only to be greeted by current members saying, "Uhh, who are you?"

I've noticed the influx as well. I find it odd, but it doesn't bother me.

It doesn't bother me as much as it just disappoints me, or interests me just as a curiosity to be accounted for. I wonder if old members who had drifted away were reinterested in Gnet by the spam Email sent out to the members a while back. I suspect it pulled back a lot of missing members; which was the intent I suppose.

Gosh, this is tempting.
But they haven't put the recipe up and I couldn't afford the lobster anyway...

I could go on and on all night with that site.
I find myself squirming and making little noises of lust. I really like good food.
