I can't narrow it down to just one, Pantera and Slipknot.
Although I think after reading all these posts I need to do some serious listening to some of these other bands I haven't heard of before my opinion is worth a pot to piss in.

unseelie_sidhee, welcome to the wonderful world of reality!

'Gothic' is a derivative form of ROCK!

Seriously, why do you bother breathing?

One qusetion:

Why do you guys let someone from 2003 with one post(which happens to be a thread) continue on getting posts?

I ask only one thing, even though I am a newb, DELETE THIS THREAD. Please.

The thread is called best band ever and there is not even a band on the poll. This should be reason enough to delete.

Best band ever? Possibly TOOL.

I have never heard known a band that could transform pure emotion into music.

Tool proved me wrong.

Now, best music genre? well i think its good to have a variety of hearings. Quality's an essential factor
I agree with you on that one, I hope you're going to see The Sisters when they tour! The Mission were excellent live this year =D

not all teenagers who call themselves 'goths' think the whole genre revolves around manson adn evanesence etc.
personally i am 16 adn if i had to chose my favourite band it would have to be...The Mission, All About Eve, and New Model Army (i know it said banD but hey...) and i bet all these manson loving teens haven't heard of any of these bands before.
just please to the elders of the board don't assume all of these 'goths' have no real concept of it.

thanks.

Why are there no classical, jazz, blues, rap, hip-hop, soul, polka, classic rock, electronica, industrial, new/darkwave, adult alternative/singer-songwriter, grunge, or, for God's sack, Goth-rock options?

Yes, I know. Sack.

I like very many bands/artists. My favorites include:

Industrial-- Nine Inch Nails, Combichrist, Hanzel und Gretyl, KMFDM, Skinny Puppy
Blues-- Tom Waits
Classic Rock-- Aerosmith, Guns 'N Roses
Texas Rock-- Stevie Ray Vaughn, ZZ Top
Jazz-- Coltrane, Davis, Monk
Alternative-- Sting, Dido, Tori Amos
Goth Rock-- The Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie, Type O Negative
Classic Metal-- Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer
Thrash-- Pantera
Modern Metal-- Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir
Modern Alt Metal-- A Perfect Circle, Tool
Classical-- Vivaldi
Rock/Classical-- Apocalyptica
Grunge-- Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone

Strangely, I've heard very little of The Cure's music. I heard a song on the TV a long while ago, but it didn't strike me as anything special. Even so, it seems to me like I should give them a chance, given how many people praise them.

That's always good to know.

I just downloaded some Joy Division and Christian Death. I'd never heard them before now, but they seem quite good.

Though I have a lot of favourites, my vote goes to Queen and The Beatles. They are both simply amazing. I also think The Sex Pistols deserve a mention.

Such a difficult question. Especially with us whose tastes change wildly within the space of a small time. I could be listing to something as soft as enya one minute and Korn or Static x the next. I would have to say that Pink Floyyd is on top of my generally most listened to list but to say that any are the all time best is just to hard for me to do.

I like London After Midnight right now. None of my other music qualifies as "Gothic" so I'll just not say it.

Some other bands i listen to occasionaly are The Dreamside, Qntal, Skinny Puppy.
