Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Apoptygma Berzerk
Has anyone heard the album "You and Me Against the World"? If you like synth/80s-type music you'll probably like this.
I don't know too much about this group, I have noticed they tend to remix tunes by other groups. Does anyone have anything so say about Apoptygma Berzerk?

I saw them in Sydney about a month ago and it was a fabulous show.
Well worth investing in their music.

Mmm I remember seeing a poster for that show, I thought about seeing it but I couldn't find anyone to drag along with me and I don't really like Apop anyways.
I think they're pretty boring to say the least, nothing new or innovative.

I couldn't get into Apoptygma Berzerk at all. They don't completely suck, they just don't offer anything new. (Wich is the problem considering that there is 100 other bands that do what they do better.)

Their sample on Metropolis 2000 (track 1) Starsign totally kicks ass!
I would consider that a must for a first time AB listener.
It is particularly enjoyable at one hundred miles per hour at midnight.

I have to look into them in greater detail. I found a few songs that I liked for a while, but I wasn't blown away by them or anything. I'm probably too particular.

Go to www.metropolis-records.com, that is their label. There is a description of the group and you can listen to samples of their music.

I've only got In this Together, Burning Heretic and their cover of Marilyn Manson's Coma White. I like them a lot, I should probably download more songs...

I don't see why I should... it's perfectly legal to download from limewire/frostwire/zip torrents here. I don't think people should be denied the right to good music due to lack of money.

I also live in Australia and no, it's not legal.
I think it's fine to download a song here or there, but if you really like them you should support them.
Ofcourse that's just my morals getting in the way .

I don't much care for morality.
Buying something you can easily get for free = not wise

That sounds like a good argument Jarl, but it's not FREE. Someone has to pay for it. That someone unfortunately turns out to be the artist whose work you supposedly respect.
I'm going to get off my high-horse now because I download free music too. I do it mostly if I can't find the music on one of the paid sites where you get much better sound quality anyway.
You don't care much for morality? Just be quiet.

Even if they only sold half of the amount of albums they usually would because of downloading, the artists would still be 30 times richer than me or you.

Never really was much of a fan of their music. It sounds too 80ish for my tastes. I much prefer the likes of Ayria or Razed in Black. But, that's just my taste.

I think that's why I like it. I'm heavy heavy heavy into 80s stuff.

To an extent you may be right with that, considering an artist earns considerably more money from playing live that from album sales. That's my excuse for downloading Deerhoof's new album - I knew I'd see them live. Which I did last night, it was awesome.
