'Allo, all.

So it was suggested to me that I should join this group.

I suppose an introduction is in order. I'm Drew Rausch and I draw spooky comics and the like, mostly zombies and Lovecraftian monsters.

If it's ok with all of you, I would like to post some of my art and maybe get some feedback. I'll throw in little tidbits of personal information as I go. No one likes to read large blocks of type posing as a bio.

Without further ado, on with the pretty pictures...

Salam (from my comic Sullengrey):

Colored version by Drew Berry

Zombie Tales cover (colors again by Ms. Berry)

Brides of Dracula...

nice drawings Mr Draush, but I think a proper introduction is needed. I am a fellow amateuristic painter too, but still in-experienced.

Ciao ciao

What's in the question addressed to new members?

Also, I like the drawings.

We do have a stickie with a few questions that most people answer, they aren't required or anything, they are just there if you have no idea what to tell us about yourself, feel free to answer or ignore as many questions as you like.

So what brings you to our lovely little site?

Let's take a shot at all this sticky business, yeah?

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)

-I am a professional sequential illustrator. I enjoy experimenting with artistic materials. I consider myself a movie connoisseur - Anything from the 1920's is usually a favorite, bonus points for German Expressionism.

2. Where are you from?

- Just moved to Southern California from Baltimore, MD a couple months ago. Mostly due to work.

3. Who is your favorite author?

I'm quite fond of Gaiman, Ellis, Lagotti and Lovecraft.

4. What are your favorite films?

- Anything from the 1920's is usually a favorite, bonus points for German Expressionism or Italian horror. Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is probably the end all, end all fave.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?

- I could tell you what was "actually" played at my wedding. Mostly 80's new wave. It was like a one hit wonder dance party. The older attendees dug it.

6. At your funeral?

- Don't want one.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?

- Still trying to figure a way around that one. I will say that being ripped apart and devoured by diseased old men sounds rather unpleasant, though.

8. What kind of casket would you want?

- I want to be preserved in a glass box that can be used as a coffee table.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?

- Quality saturday morning cartoons. Although it's possible that those cartoons weren't very good and as a kid, I had really crappy taste.

11. What's your favorite band?

- Usually there's some obscure 80's New Wave, old school post punk, and the occasional epic soundscape (ie:Godspeed! You Black Emperor) playing in the background.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?

- I have a degree from the Hussian School of Art and Technology.

13. Why did you join?

- Honestly, to keep in touch with the times. You never know who will recommend that new band or discover a rad movie. Being an artist requires a certain lack of pulse of current events fingering. Also, self promotion. I don't want to use the term "whoring", more like making people aware that I exist. I don't want you to feel that you have to buy my art (if you do, that's cool too) but I would like it if you acknowledge it.

So there you go. Answers...

If there's any other questions you guys have, don't hesitate to ask. In the meantime. I'll be posting art here and there.

Nothing wrong with wanting to get your art out there and using the boards to help you do so (as long as you keep it in the appropriate places such as Shill or the art thread in general).

How are you liking Baltimore so far? I grew up about an hour and a half away and have some family in the city so I've been rather frequently, if you haven't really found anything fun to do I would be more than happy to make a few suggestions.

Ah, so there is a place for art. I must of missed that the first go around. Good to know. Thanks for that.

You misunderstood. We've left Baltimore (after 5 years) and came to Ca. Actually, kind of hated Maryland in general. The scene out there was being replaced by bro-clubs and all the shops were going for more of an urban look.

My compliments on your art! It's very very good!

I would love to know the details of acquiring one of your pieces, and if you have anything else. [Though it's a bit morbid, I especially like the Zombie Baby eating a hand. For some reason, the idea of Zombie Babies amuses me.]

And I have to agree with you about the Saturday morning cartoons. Also, that's the coolest idea for a casket I've seen yet! XD

Ah sorry, I was reading too quickly. Sounds like you and I know very different sides of Md, that or some new places have opened up that you never tried out.

Well now that I actually got what you said: how do you like California?

Oh yes, we will get along nicely. ^_^

That first illustration is amazing, by the way.

Solumina: We like Ca just fine. Although the big ball of firey death that's in the sky can be a bit intense at times.

Tam Li Hua: We're working on a webstore to sell prints, books and the like. I'm glad you dig the art so far.

More, yeah? On with the show:

Pages from a Cthulhu Tales (Boom! Studios) story I did. Again colors by D.Berry.

I'm not sure where to continue this thread, since Shrill won't allow me to post pics, just links. So till another option presents itself, I'll just continue to post my brain dribblings here. Is that okay with you all?

This was from another Cthulhu Tales story I did for Boom Studios. Colors by DB

I know I've seen that picture with the zombie kid in the stroller at the comic book store my friend works at. I'm totally impressed. I've never wanted to be a groupie so bad.
