Cleaning tips for a guitar
Hello :)
I am an aspiring guitar player, so naturally I have a guitar (No shit! :O)
But the actual thing is, that since I have a sort of psoriasis in my face and scalp, I scale off a lot, so I have to clean my guitar very very often (along with all my stuff really)
So my question is, how can I effectively and safely clean my guitar?
I am using a polyester duster, but that doesn't remove fingermarks and stuff from it, and getting under the strings is pretty hard. Any tips?
I am sometimes using a cotton bud, but I suppose that could damage the strings when I get to the fretboard.
Any advice? :)

Use a mouse sander, then hose it down to get all the dust off, then take it apart and tumble dry.

take a cloth you dont need, run it under the strings, and move it down the fretboard... as for fingerprints, you can just clean that off with a damp rag, but I say why bother, worn down guitars look cooler than new ones.

I hope that mine will as well, which is why I want to be careful  I did break a string a few days ago though <.< turns out that if while you tune your guitar, you accidently tune the wrong string, it can overtune it and break <.< whoops

Anarasha,
The best thing to do to keep your guitar body clean, is to buy a cleaning kit, which you can get from most music shops, and it will contain cleaner, polish, and detail. These will do an amazing job for your guitar helping to protect it from dirt and dust (which is important).
Also if you have a rosewood or Ebony fingerboard on your guitar, a bottle of Lemon Oil (see link below) is essential to keep it in good condition and from drying out.

A good alternative to the guitar polish I mentioned is Pledge (the stuff you polish furniture with) will do, you will need a soft cloth, or an old T-shirt cut up for the job (make sure its clean of dust and dirt first).
As for strings, I use, and highly recommend GHS Fast Fret, which is brilliant for keeping strings clean and in good condition, and making them last longer and sound better. The strings themselves should be at least be changed once every six months or so.

Well, I was used to one of those guitars where the knobs are all on one side, and on this guitar, there are three on each. Needless to say, at 2 AM, that did not work out well.

Just remember to change 1 string at a time... If you take more than 2 or 3 off at once, your neck's tension will get fucked up.

Technically, it's called a Truss Rod. It goes through your neck, and come out on either the head or the body side of the neck. If you don't know what you're doing though, I wouldn't suggest adjusting it.
