To make matters worse I'm a total brat when sharing a kitchen. I'm fiercely territorial, I'm really messy but don't clean as I go, I spread out (and will annex other people's prep space), and I get incredibly annoyed with having to use cutting boards. I totally blame my mom's kitchen for all of it because she has a huge butchers block island, it's like a normal island with the stove in it and a little prep space on one side but a big octagon on the other side, there is literally space for 8 people to work, and enough floor space that you can still get to the sink, counter top appliances, and the oven without bumping into the people prepping, and there is a huge turntable in the cabinets under that octagon so no matter what side you're on you can get at everything inside. You just can't open the fridge while someone is standing in front of the stove, that's it, that is the only non-perfect thing about the kitchen, so even having basically the whole family in there working at the same time was easy peasy and now I'm ruined for normal kitchens.

I don't think you understand the severity of my kitchen brattyness. I kicked my own mother out of the kitchen and made her chop veggies at the dining table, she wasn't even in the actual kitchen, she was on the dining room side of the peninsula.

Jake doesn't even use the sink or fridge when I'm cooking.

I have a problem.

My kitchen isn't much better, sadly. My old kitchen was nice, but the new one is tiiiiiiny. And I burned myself severely TWICE in one week while Versus was here. I made a roast and had to utilize the coffee table in the living room (dining room table is still covered in boxes because I appear to be the only one who has unpacked at all in the last month.)

Also I recently made daifuku because I probably can't afford to eat a premade box as much as I want to (every waking hour).

I made the cakes which I told you guys about in another thread..

I haven't had time to make much else in the way of food or crafts, have been neglecting hobbies so much. Just been cooking for dinners and the freezer sometimes.

However I did just inexplicably go nuts and order black yarn on the notion that I might knit some baby clothes.

Timeless is that a stovetop over the fridge?? I had one of those in college. Used to joke with my friends that every time I fried an egg I'd melt my ice cubes.

Jaye: That it is - warms well, but who in the name of SATAN'S SMELLY FEET decided to install first-generation touch technology as buttons??
Logic behind it: "You can ONLY press my buttons with your fingers if your fingers are dry, clean and if I don't have oil on me - it's not like you are cooking near me or anything... but feel free to hear me turn on and off rapidly if a breadcrumb touches one of my buttons!"

I am not the best of friends with my kitchen...

Wow. Sorry to hear that, TR. I was hoping it was a cutting board or something, one that would fit over the sink and give you extra counter space.

Just hope your stove/fridge doesn't do what mine did and short out. Caught the kitchen on fire and took out the wiring in the bathroom next door. (My bathroom was also a trip. Had a timed light and water tank, and the sink was directly over the toilet!! Every time I'd sneeze I'd hit my head on the pipes. Makes you wonder, you know).

It was installed when I moved in under a year ago - the old one didn't het properly. So I'm guessing it'll be ok.
But yeah, more counter space would be super nice...

The surviving cake is long since eaten, so you won't want to see pics now! The other one died a tragic death in the oven due to a dodgy tin.

I'm going to buy a proper tin like I should have before, so its death wasn't in vain.

FINALLY finished this with help from my best friend
It's not too impressive, and the sleeves are a couple of inches too short, but that's ok xD It's the first ever piece of clothing I sewed myself.

I am considering decorating the edges with silver too - it's for a carneval-like costume. Gray suit pants, this shirt, cape that's red on the outside and black on the inside with a golden rim, silver-and-gold mask and probably black shoes.

Nice job, TR!! As to the sleeves, you could add an extra cuff under the first one to extend it and make the sleeves ruffled, or you could let out the hem in the sleeve and face it with seam binding or ribbon so that it doesn't ravel.

Thank you Jaye!
There were actually pieces for the second cuff ruffle piece you mention on the pattern, and I did cut them out - I suppose I'll add that one of these days
And it doesn't show well in this picture, but the sleeve cuffs are actually ruffled - shows much better when I put it on
I am using it for a costume, so I am probably going to decorate it further with more silver
