Three...Extremes

Takashi Miike, Park Chan-Wook, and Fruit Chan have collaborated on a three part horror film, telling three separate stories. I can't wait to see this in the U.S., but I hope to find a theater that won't show it dubbed or else I won't be able to watch it. I have to listen to films in their original language to really enjoy them.

If anyone's heard of it, Takashi Miike also directed Audition, which is a completely normal drama/romantic comedy until the last half hour or so, and gets extremely intense in the last fifteen minutes (think dismemberment).

Read more about the film.

Yeah Manimal and Al corrupted me with Miike already..

In fact I still can't keep my eyes TOTALLY open when Ichii is on...

OMFG
that movie has some of the MOST graphic violence I have EVER SEEN!!

Audition gave me the major willies as well...

" Kiri Kiri Kiri Kiri.."

*Shudder*

Audition was definitely FUCKED UP!!

Have you seen Visitor Q??

If you haven't, FIND IT!!

That has GOT TO BE one of his MOST fucked up films..

For friggin real..

There are SEVERAL scenes, where you will be sitting there going " Oh my fucking God, I can't believe I am seeing what I am seeing!! "

Take my word..

Visitor Q..

Also rent the ' Happiness of the Katakuri's ' just so you can say, " Umm HELLO, this CANNOT BE A MIIKE FILM!!! "

It'll make you think you smoked the wrong Shroom, for sure..

Well most of his movies have that effect eventually, but still..

It's a friggin musical even.. But a MIIKE musical, that's all I can tell ya..

Worth seeing for the WTF factor..

Manimal and Al and I all sat through it laughing our asses off and going 'Uhh WTF' through the entire movie.

Those two were on a MIIKE fest for months and months..

That man has some serious friggin issues.. And I thought I was twisted..

Not even close, compared to this dude..

Then of course there is Dead or Alive I,II,II, Gozu and Fudoh..

And it appears the Three Extremes is already out, I wil try and find ya some good links for how to find it.

Here is a site that you can order most of his movies from, if you are interested..

Moviemaker has an interesting article about Captain Twisted, himself..

I did rent Happiness of the Katakuris but I think our cheap DVD player prevented it from playing correctly. The actual soundtrack to the film wouldn't play, just the commentary. : |

I intend to rent Ichi the Killer in the near future, since I think the Hollywood Video around here carries it. I rented Dead or Alive a few months ago but for some reason I never sat through the entire thing and finished it. I always fell asleep or went and did something else.

Yeah ever since they played Ichii on Showtime, all of the major video store chains have been carrying it.

But I doubt you will find Visitor Q there, prolly have to go to a less 'trendy' video rental place..

...or find it online. I'd like to get a region-free DVD player or tweak one to be that way since they're all capable of playing any format. That way I could get foreign releases before they're released in the U.S. I still want to see Haute Tension but it's too late for the theater and a while before it will be in video rental places.

Three Extremes

Okay it's not being released in the theater until October 28th, but since it came out last year over there, you can order the DVD here:

http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID....qx/details.htm

Overview:Contains the following three short films, one each from world-renowned directors from Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea: BOX: THE JAPANESE EXTREME (~40 mins.)
Kyoko is a woman who suffers from recurring nightmares that never end properly, and keep her up night after night. But when her friend gives her an antique box, it acts as a catalyst for her to uncover some of the dark secrets sequestered away in the corners of her mind--secrets which may hold the key to her nightmares.

DUMPLINGS: THE HONG KONG EXTREME (~37 mins.)
A fallen starlet seeks help to reclaim her youth as well as her philandering husband. She finds salvation in Aunt Mei, whose secret recipe for restoring woman's youth is dumplings which are made from the remains of aborted fetuses.

CUT: THE KOREAN EXTREME (~48 mins.)
A film director learns some painful lessons about what it's like to be on the other side of the camera after a very disgruntled actor kidnaps him, his wife, and a little girl. The kidnapper instructs the director to kill the little girl, lest his wife's fingers be cut off one by one every five minutes.

This site has some pretty twisted screen shots from the Japanese release:

Imma try and get it, we thank ya for the tip. Manimal will be excited..
