Body in freezer of 20 years

Quote:
An elderly woman was questioned by police after apparently storing her mother’s body in a freezer for up to 20 years, it emerged today.

Officers interviewed Daulat Irani, 83, under caution after the grim discovery at the property in Sidcup, south-east London.

It is understood the body was formally identified yesterday as that of her mother Gulbai Freedoon Murzan, who was born in 1901. Officers believe she could have been dead for up to 20 years.

Her death was currently being treated as unexplained rather than suspicious, the Metropolitan Police said.

Post-mortem examination results are expected later this week.

Officers were initially called to the property in Park Mead on May 10 after being alerted by a neighbour. Forensic officers moved in to remove the well-preserved corpse.

Ray Dyson, 77, who lives nearby, said Ms Irani was a “nice old lady” who went quietly about her business.

He told the Daily Mirror: “This has all come as a bit of a shock. The first we knew was when two police cars and an officer in a full forensic bodysuit turned up.

“They taped off the garage and have now put a padlock on it.”

A police spokesman said: “The death is being treated as unexplained rather than suspicious. There have been no arrests and an 83-year-old woman has been interviewed under caution.”

That's what I like in my freezer... ice cream, fish sticks, and an old dead lady.

Would the freezer have been the size of a supermarket freezer? Otherwise, I can't imagine how a corpse could have fit in there.

A lot of people have those big long freezers what sit in their garage for extra stuff, especially if they fish or hunt. Quite obviously it's not a normal size freezer or the woman wouldn't have fit. :/

Yeah I think they are called bench freezers or something like that, loads of people have them back home but I don't know a single person with one around here.

I can wait to hear more about this too. I want to know how the body was found. I pictured the body being found by her grandson when he went out to the garage to see if there was a bag of tater tots to go along with dinner. Tater tots are ruined forever for him now.

You guys just aren't being creative enough. I mean--really--I could fit a little old lady in an average freezer without a problem. It would just require multiple freezer bags.

Maybe the old lady wanted to see the future.

I'm only assuming she didn't cut mom up in little pieces because the cops said she was "remarkably well preserved".

I have a freezer in my Sun Room, it's about the size of the refrigerator-freezer combos that most people keep in their kitchens. I'm assuming it was one of those, or one of the ones you see in the convenience stores where you slide them open to get your ice cream.
Actually, depending on the size of the old lady, it would be quite possible to stuff her body into the freezer; the angle would just be awkward.

Yeah big freezers like that are rather common here in Wisconsin due to all the hunting that goes on over here, Wisconsin has always valued the ability to preserve food.
