How a Photoshopped Picture of Sir Ian McKellen Fooled the Internet

SOURCE

.............................. FAKE .................................................. .... REAL

This past weekend, Sir Ian McKellen attended an event in Hyde Park to protest the policies of Pope Benedict XVI on the Pope’s very first state visit to the UK. Shortly thereafter, the photo to the above left began to make its way around the tubes, wherein McKellen wears a shirt that says “I’m Gandalf and Magneto. Get over it!” The Internet being the Internet, it “went viral,” as the kids say, with the picture getting more than 250,000 views on Twitpic, close to 200,000 more when it was ripped to Imgur, and who knows how many more via blogs and other third-party sources.

Indeed, it is a pretty awesome shirt. However, it is not the shirt that McKellen actually wore to the anti-pope rally: Rather, he wore the shirt to the above right (“Some people are gay. Get over it!”) which actually makes a lot more sense considering 1) that the typeface changes in the Gandalf shirt, but is consistent in the real thing; 2) that the protester behind him is wearing the same shirt in both instances; and 3) that as mind-blowing as is the Gandalf-Magneto singularity presented by McKellen, the Church’s positions with respect to homosexuals are a bit easier to protest. All good Photoshop fun, maybe, but it apparently actually fooled a lot of people; The Advocate ran the ’shopped McKellen shirt on their website before correcting it, and lots of social media sharing of the picture takes it at face value.
Yeah, they fooled me. More of this article is available at the SOURCE link above, but I wanted to make sure I posted the correction in the same place I initially posted the fake. Still, I kinda like the fake shirt, even though it doesn't make sense in the context of that event.

Tonight I am the COOKIE MONSTER!
I better stop soon, before I make myself ill.
Seriously, tonight I've had nearly half a dozen of these big sugar cookies I got from the grocery store.
I bet they'd taste great with a big Chai Latte though! After this round I'll stop for the night. For real.

I love you guys

Also Kor knows what's up

Another also I feel like I haven't been around, I'll try to fix this since slacking at work seems to get me more recognition than actually trying

Another another also I can type really well even when unable to see and/or think clearly, I should make better use of this talent, and yes it is all me and no spell check was used

I like Sir Ian's shirt (both versions).

washed my car, took forever to wash the wheels. it's going to take a month to get the grime out from under my finger nails.

Baby bat helped wash it, and rewash it and even wash it after i'd rinsed it with the hose (took me an hour).

I'm such a slave driver. I had two kids (four and two) helping me pack away the toys at playgroup. Never too young to learn.

Feeling dizzy again today, must be my crap blood pressure or maybe too much excitment, lack of sleep, not enough liquids.

At the gym five days for the next two weeks. Go endorphins!

Oh have to go and rescue babybat, who has locked me in a room and is now throwing a tantie on the otherside of the door because he's separated from mum (teehee).

Ack! I bought a can of cheap, generic coffee yesterday and just took my first sip ... Wow! I can honestly say that is the worst tasting coffee I have ever had. And no amount of cream or sweetener is gonna cover it up. I honestly can't finish this cup. I'm throwing it all out and seeing if there's anything else around here I can scrounge up.

*spits* yuck!

Ewww crappy coffee is one of the worst drinks in the world, yet every time I go to IHOP I seem to forget this and I order coffee *blech*

Things have been going mostly well for me. Wedding plans are coming together and we are actually under budget, and I thought we were going to go quite a bit over but my caterer is awesome and got us some extras thrown in for free (I love Izzy, my event planner). I'm officially getting made permanent at work (and I am the only summer hire that is) which will guarantee me hours even when things are dead and I don't have to worry about getting let go (since we know that at least one person will be let go in November I was kind of worried, even though I am a good employee). Jake and I work at about the same time (his shift is half an hour later than mine) so we actually get to spend time together and we can carpool to save a bit on gas. Jake also has a new boss who is making a lot of much needed changes, including such things as getting more people and ensuring that they can actually get breaks.

Oh and I'm actually getting back to having a social life. My friend Cat was in town for her birthday and last night a bunch of us went out to her favorite bar. The drinks were good and the band was awesome. Much fun was had by all, perhaps a little too much fun.

Tuesday night:
I go to Goth night, which my friend Chris DJs.
Chris and his girlfriend Drea get in to a fight, per usual.
Chris shoves Drea, I get in between them, and almost have to get in to a fight with Chris. I said "Back the fuck off. I have a knife, steel-toed Docs, and I WILL hit you. Back off."
Beer was thrown at both Drea and myself. (waste of a perfectly good beer! *sad face*)
Drama, drama, drama.
Bourbon, vodka, absinthe.
Drunken texts from Solumina.
I leave with Drea, go up to a friend's house in Indiana.
More alcohol.
Chris shows up, more drama.
4 grams shared between 5 people, and I didn't have to pay for it. *sniff*
Lots of fun.
(it's about 12p on Wednesday now, and I still haven't slept)
It starts raining, the guys get naked and go out to play in the rain.
I was going to join them, but it stopped raining.
I get home at 5:30p on Wednesday, and ended up going to sleep at 9p.

Bloody hell. I am a party fiend.

Mr Bats birthday shortly and i have no idea what to do, apart from take him to an indoor kid playground (so I can actually run after him, instead of running after 18mth old).

Went to a 50th in a park and I spend 2 minutes talking to the guy and the rest of the time chasing down babybat. Was so exhausted by the time I got home. I think i had about five minutes where Mr Bat did the chasing.

I really need to stop spending so much when I go to Costco. Sure I got a great deal on everything and I wont need to get much of anything in the way of groceries for ages (besides milk and bread cuz those don't exactly keep all that well) but it took forever to get it all to fit in the freezer. Maybe instead of getting less I should just get a freezer chest, after all the strain from getting so much isn't on my bank account (although I did find out that I have a max amount that I can use my debit card for but that was sorted with a phone call), I just don't have the freezer space.

I survived the lack of sleep yesterday but was crook as a dog with a stomach bug. Today will be like yesterday - baby bat watching cartoons while mum curls up on the lounge and dies.

I'm thinking I got it. Its six thirty and I haven't been able to eat a thing all day. I thought it was just because I was eating junk food last week but I got decent groceries Friday with little improvement.

I wish I got that can of no chicken noodle soup.
