Who has actually read "Les Miserables" by Victor Hugo.

I am actually only about one fiftieth of the way through the book.

I have. My dad bought it, and then read it and I borrowed it from him last year. Small text though.

I read it, and read it for my own enjoyment. Great book.

I've seen the musical, is the book any good?
If it is, I may get a copy to read in my free time.

It's pretty good. In all honesty, I think there are far better books, but that's just a matter of taste - it IS worth a read.

I shhold also add that it was a great assignment. A Romantic novel; the darkness of the souls of even righteous men is overwhelmed by an heroic commoner.

I read it, though I must confess, I didn't really enjoy it.

(I feel like an absolute uncultured wretch for saying it too -- but there you go)

It was awkwardly verbose and disjointed, normally something that intrigues me, but I found it seemed to be dragging it's heels and by the time it got dramatic I was looking at the shape of the words more than comprehending the meaning.

I would read it again, but start halfway through. You should read it though, it's a classic.
