Christmas Present for a goth
Hi there! I'm by no means goth, but my roommate has a goth style to her, and I was wondering if you kind people could direct me to some cool gift ideas.
Thanks for any help

You could buy her a CD. That would always work. If you buy her a good goth CD, she'll be impressed, or in the case she's a poser, you would outgoth her and teach her something.
Anyway, here's a list of some good CDs in the subculture:
Bauhaus - In the Flatfield (classic)
Sisters of Mercy - Floodland (also classic)
Specimen - Azoic (the epitome of Batcave, which is very campy macabre music)
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Juju (creepy and sort of out-of-tune music)
A Spectre Is Haunting Europe - Flames (if she's into quiet mellow deathrock, I think she's going to like this, because not many people know them)
Bloody Dead and Sexy - Paint it Red (stronger deathrock)
Christian Death - try to get a Best of Christian Death, but if that fails, get Only Theatre of Pain
Cinema Strange - The Astonished Eyes of Evening (the style varies from song to song, but it's always spine tingling)
The Cruxshadows - if she's into electronic stuff, buy her Dreamcypher
Diary of Dreams - End of Flowers. If you know she's into electronic and dark music, but you're not sure if she doesn't have Cruxshadows CDs already, buying this CD of Diary of Dreams is a better choice. It's more unlikely she has it, and she'll like it.
Other than CDs you could always buy her something not very expensive but nice, like a fishnet shirt, striped tights is she likes them of a color she still doesn't have.
Wait, I think it would be better if you yourself made a mixed CD for her.

Oh, I simply adore End of Flowers! Tears of laughter is my favourite.

Considering this is in the fashion forum, I'm assuming you're intending to buy her clothes. I wouldn't go with fishnet shirt, as buying a fishnet shirt for a goth is like buying a tie for your father. Maybe some sort of corset? Real ones tend to be expensive, but you can probably find a cheap, but still aesthetic, fascimile.

Well since this is the fashion thread perhaps Jillian meant to suggest that the CD's were to be given as a gift to be worn. Only Theatre of Pain could be worn over her crotch, Bauhaus over her left breast and Sisters of Mercy over her right.

You could get her an eyeshadow pallete! One with a great selection of colors. Dark ones of course. Urban decay's the best brand for gothic makeup :]

Getting good patches and pins is quite an ordeal. It would show commitment to your friend.

Perhaps a movie of some kind? A Tim Burton flick (if they don't already have most of them) or a horror movie usually does the trick. If they're not the screen-watching type, then go with the DIY method as stated by korinna5555 and purchase some thread, patches, paints, etc.
Last year I got a gothy friend of mine who was into welding a pencil torch. Some of the works he's created are quite good actually. Though that's a rarity.

Get her the CDs.
If you REALLY want to melt her mind, get her The Gothic Box Set cd collection. It comes with 3 CDs of just about every popular goth band and a DVD with tons of music vids by our favorite bands.

One time my mom made me a chocolate raspberry cheesecake and she drew (I guess that is the right word) the raspberry part so that it looked like a red spider web. It was so cool that I was a bit hesitant to eat it but my mother makes fantastic cheesecake so that hesitancy only lasted until after we took a picture of it. It was the best birthday cake ever ^.^

This depends on whether she's a goth, or a mallgoth. Either way, buy a goth a nice pair of asskicker boots (the kind covered in straps/buckles) and they'll be your slave for life. Haha.

Roses always work. Black, white or red. Or a bouquet of Calla Lillies if you can find them this time of year where you are.
