It depends on the clothes you wear with it.

Personally, I think both of them look tacky and they don't look like they'll keep you warm but I'd take the second one if I HAD to pick.

Neither, dude. The material is shit, and in my opinion they're both really, really ugly.

Actually, somebody I know got that for $20 at one of their clearance sales. So chances are good it's either stopped or online only.

What about thrift shops/chains?

yeah most of the hot topics around here go out fast with a lot of the clothing so its like you need to know when that stuff comes out lol. I'm thinking about going to a thrift store and see whats up.

Dude, thrift stores... all the time. Save yourself the trouble.

There's nothing wrong with finding an old military dress jacket at a thrift store for 10 dollars and rit dying it about 5 times til it was black or matrix green.

I like the second; I could rock that right out with the right accessories (nothing plaid, fo shizzle)....

Only problem with thrift stores, at least around here, is that there is absolutely NOTHING remotely military nor decent/goth-y. (scary concept with all the military bases here, but they are Navy).

Personally I'm just about done with both----best second hand stuff I can find is on eBay.

No offense, dude, but I laugh at people that wear coats like the first one.
It's not even actual prejudice from my part, you just have to analyze it.
I see a guy with a tacky trench coat that was either bought for a hundred fifty in Hot Topic or specially ordered, which means that this person went out of his normal routine for the specific reason of getting hold of a mallgoth trench coat with absolutely no aesthetic value. Then I ask myself, when the coat has no beauty of itself, why would someone want it? What's so special about its idiosyncrasy? And the answer always is that they want to feel dark or something in a similar mindset. And the you meet this people and they're all alike; they think metal is oh-so-deep when they cannot mention more than a handful of metal bands that aren't listened by the same exact people over and over, and, for some reason, they all have a fixation for manga.
I suppose the last sentence is just an uncreative trend manifestation in my area, but still, that's my experience.

The second one is tolerable.

Go to Noir Leather in Royal Oak. They have some nice things there.

For coats off the rack go for Shrine or Funhouse:

Well the reason that I shop with stuff that has Tripp on it is that for some reason when it has chains or straps it attracts me. I guess that is what I like on my clothing. Also to me I think Tripp clothing is very comfortable. Of course I wouldn't mind trying other things. I do have to say the freakin prices suck.

Hey okay so tell me what you think...

If you are into trench coats, I think a jacket with an 18th century feel is a bit more attractive and dark then the first jacket you posted… Something piraty and genuinely gothic such as this from Dark Star, its affordable and warm and expresses the same statement … It’s the one almost on the bottom… The canvas Pirate coat…

http://www.sharpe-designs.com/dragon...ing-cloaks.htm

That might be a little much for your taste… This is jacket is short and incredibly sexy. This is my favorite.

If you are into more silver… This is Hot

http://www.findcoolclothes.com/01978.html

This is just an example but a simple black velvet can be found in almost any thrift store at some point or another and it is cheap… Something like this

Pin Strips… Very Nice.

This is an English Company so the shipping is a bit more but this jacket is cute
