Cool Fields of the Nephilim

Fields of the Nephilim are one of my all time favourite bands...

Their music spanning from the `Burning the Fields` E.P onwards, has been about the band following their own unique mystical musical path.

"Theres alot of rebellion in our music, We`ve never been accepted, We`ve never been hip, we`ve never fitted in"

Their image made them look like they were transplanted directly from a Sergio Leone `Spaghetti Western`, but their music is haunting, atmospheric and shamanistic.

I was wondering if anyone else loves the music of this fantastic band ?.

For more info...

Damn, I wish Mael were still here. I think he was a fan.

I haven't listened to them, yet.

Wolfie,

I strongly reccomend their first LP `Dawnrazor` and the excellent albums `Elizium` and `Nefilim` , not forgetting their classic live album `Earth Inferno` (has a good cross section of their music from these 3 albums so its an ideal introduction to their music.

I think you will absolutey love them Wolfie .

Were'nt the Nephilim the titans in the bible? I think it translates to Fallen Ones, but I'm not sure. I'm almost completely sure they were angels cast out by the hebrew god.

actually, the way i understood it was they were the offspring of angels mating with the sons of man. but i don't think the story is actually in the bible anymore. too taboo and doesn't fit well with the rest of the story.

anyway - as for the band, i use to listen to them back in 9th grade. i didn't know they were still around.

I only have the "Dawnrazor" album, but I think that's great. When I come across another one of their records, I'll definitely buy it.

Oh, and I have the "Zoon" album, by the Nefilim, and the "One More Nightmare" EP. Those I don't value quite so highly as the early stuff, but they're still ok.

Fields Of The Nephilim [or "the Nephs", if you prefer] were always 1 of my favourite Gothic bands. Used to have "Dawnrazor" & "Elizium". I miss listening to those. I believe theey have a new album out, but so far, I've only heard 1 song [in MP3 form] from it.

Dawnrazer is excellent. I love their imagery, and Carl McCoy's voice is incredible. So unique and... terrifying!

They where Englands finest after the Sisters wandered off to do whatever the Sisters do when there not gigging. Amazing Live Shows. loads of dry Ice and a trully epic sound, Specially around the elizium time. (gothic Pink floyd..) They used to cover them selves in Flour to look ...aged. New Album is called Mourning Sun and its brought me back to gothdom despite getting to old for it all. one of the few Gothic rock premier division bands.

They where the sons of Angels, McCoys mixed in a load of ancient Sumarian and babalonion myths. (like the bible does I guess.) They where refered to as Giants in the Bible. theres loads of theorys and half decent fiction about the Nephs of Legend. Carl McCoys mate Storm Constantine Writes some half decent Goth Fiction about it all, there kinda pervy vampires with a load of wiccan thrown in for good measure.

it's an amazing band. I have their whole discography, including their latest album mourning sun. All I can say is that I have never found a band that could be compared with them. it's a goth rock music that was created from old progressive rock and heavy metal. Anyway, my favourite albums are dawnrazor and elizium, and a very special song is Laura. *thread ressurected*

The Neph rule !!!

I think they are one of the best in their genre, and what makes them amazing is that they have always musically done their own thing, which has given them a uniqueness !!!.

I think Fields of the Nephilim are amazing, they have this ethereal atmosphere, and these beautiful textures within the layers of sounds that are Fields of the Nephilim.

Favourite songs: Preacherman, Love under will, Slowkill, Laura, For her Light, Moonchild (to name a few) !!!

Don't forget about the new album. Straight to the light is an incredible song, but then again...all of their songs are incredible.

The Neph are good. They're on the heavier, rockier side of things... close to metal at times. Heavier than SoM or the Mission, they very much enjoyed being a borderline case.
They're also a great floor filler at a goth night, if you've got a lot of trad goths who know their roots.

Does any one else when listening to Vet the Insane feel like rocking yourself from side to side and wave a lighter in the air like in the good ol' concerts?
