Someone needs to teach my students how to read. Seriously - how am I supposed to get these kids through a college level class when they can't read a three-page article and tell me what it's about?

Definitely know the feeling, BlacKat. I did some private tutoring to pay the bills during my studies - the most depressing thing wasn't the appalling ineptitude with basic grammar and sentence structure, but the fact that some of the worst offenders were actually pretty bright otherwise.

Etsy resellers.... FUCK OFF. That 1960's rabbit coat aint worth the £120 you're fucking asking for. It's a bog standard edition , no remarkable or unusual features, just a plain brown bunny utility coat. Wankers.

lol

Even though they are really overpriced, I have found some cool things on there I would love to buy when money doesn't mean anything to me anymore. But, until then, Ebay and thrift stores are my home.

I'm often amazed at the prices on Etsy and Folksy. I know a lot of the materials used can be bought really cheaply, I buy a lot myself so I know how much stuff costs.

Some of them are fucking shameless. One of the reasons I would never sell any of my jewellery ( if I were inclined to sell it at all ) for more than about... £50 max, is because I find most of it dead in a gutter ! I also get free stuff from work when they have clearouts ( beads ect )

Some things I do buy, things that don't die near me for example ( ducks, grouse ect ) and things that are vintage/old ( Ibex horns that are over 50 years old , vintage fur from the 80's backwards ) and sometimes the odd bits and bobs I purchase cost a bit, so that would be the only thing to raise prices to my max level.

A friend of mine said if I were to offer a particular necklace of mine for sale she'd be happy to pay 80 for it. I nearly fell over laughing. I couldn't sleep for guilt if I asked that much. I don't know how a lot of Etsy sellers do it I really don't. Most of them aren't actually making a proper living off this stuff so they can't justify the price by that excuse. Some things have clearly had a great deal of work put into them and those I can understand to a degree. But still....

Yeah, I buy loads of beads and findings from ebay and they work out costing me pennies. I could never charge huge prices for what I make, I'd feel too guilty. Not that I make anything spectacular and most of it gets given away to friends and family. I just enjoy making stuff.

My boyfriend has no idea what to get me for Xmas.
We've been dating for four years and you can't think of anything I might like?
Everyone I know says I'm the easiest person ever to shop for because I like just about anything. Hell, I don't even care if I get gifts.
*le sigh*

*psst* Ask for Sprecher Rootbeer, and Packers Stock (the second best option to actually having a decent football team). Oh and I find this is something rather nice: http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/d163/

I'm the same way. Something about getting gifts for an occasion freaks me out. I wish it was more acceptable to give people gifts as a "whenever" sort of thing.

I have a wish list on Amazon and post about the things I am interested in on Facebook all the time, and yet I have family members who claim that they have no idea what I am into or what to get me ... even though I put it in their face nearly every day of the year.

Those same individuals seem to have the same problem buying gifts for others as well ... and most of them are more self-focused than other-focused, having what I'll call a "weaker empathy gene." So I think it just goes with that territory (in their cases - I'm not speaking about anyone here.)

I'm saddened. I've found my old dog in a plastic bin but it will take some time to bring him back from the dead. I will need a miniature screwdriver and probably some button batteries. I can tell by looking at his containment system that he was bought at KFC.

Its hard to believe the whole Giga-Pets trend has been forgotten.

I also hate Christmas shopping. Don't get me wrong, I love shopping for gifts, I just hate Christmas shopping. People turn into crazy, entitled bitches, which is only compounded when they form massive swarms.

I'd comment on this myself but Twain says it perfectly:
"The approach of Christmas brings harrassment and dread to many excellent people. They have to buy a cart-load of presents, and they never know what to buy to hit the various tastes; they put in three weeks of hard and anxious work, and when Christmas morning comes they are so dissatisfied with the result, and so disappointed that they want to sit down and cry. Then they give thanks that Christmas comes but once a year."

I take back what I said earlier, I don't hate Christmas shopping, I hate Christmas shoppers. I had great fun picking out stocking-stuffers at Target tonight, I got there at around 11:00pm (they started staying open until midnight last week) and it was pretty much just me and a bunch of employees who were restocking the shelves.

Saya, do not read this. Ever.

So I guess I'm not used to the food here, yet. I've had what I can only describe as "drippy butt-pee" since Saturday morning and have shit my pants probably close to 20 times.

So here I am at work, sitting in a 5 hour line for a post deployment health assessment and my ass is leaking again, just like I said it would to my boss before I got here. I'm like "Hey, I just shit my pants, again. I need to go to the hospital or something. Of course, this guy is a dick for no fucking reason, so he wouldn't let me leave until I threatened to call HIS boss.

Also, all this fucking army admin bullshit is fucking retarded.

Why, God, have you forsaken me?
