Anyone gonna watch Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0446029/
Quote:
"Everything is totally sweet.
Scott Pilgrim's life is so awesome. He's 23 years old, in a rock band, "between jobs," and dating a cute high school girl. Everything's fantastic until a seriously mind-blowing, dangerously fashionable, roller blading delivery girl named Ramona Flowers starts cruising through his dreams and sailing by him at parties. But the path to Ms. Flowers isn't covered in rose petals. Ramona's seven evil exes stand between Scott and true happiness. Can Scott beat the bad guys and get the girl without turning his precious little life upside-down?
The film is based on the Oni Press graphic novel Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, written by Bryan Lee O'Malley."

Also, since we're on the topic of movies with nerd followings:
Sucker Punch
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0978764/
"Alice in Wonderland with machine guns."
Quote:
A young girl is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the facility. Story is set in 1950's.

I have a feeling that it will do badly with critics and won't be a box office hit, but I'll still see it nonetheless.

[Still playing through Okami. Hope to be done by the time the new one comes out, or at least until the new Marvel vs. Capcom.]

YES as a nominal nerd i feel it is my duty to see this film and based on its nerdidom decide how many more times I will see it. And Suckerpuch already looks like a really good movie. I am deefinatley going to see it and make every effort not to hump the back of the seat infront of me.

No, it looks dumb. Looks like it's gonna be the same rehashed formula used for Superbad and every other movie that curly-haired kid has been in.
Zombieland was good, despite him.

Why in the hell does everyone think the guy in Zombieland is Michael Cera...?!?!@e
They are 2 completely different people O_o They don't even look similar enough for me to confuse them and I used to confuse Brad Pitt and Matt Damon hahaha...
And It's based on a pretty nice graphic novel. The direction should be great, same guy who did Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
It looks absolutely nothing like Superbad as well... How is him fighting this girl's 7 evil ex's even remotely reminscent of Superbad?
It looks like it'll be fairly similar to the graphic novel apart from them having to guess on how to end it since the last graphic novel was/is out after they already finished the movie.
I'm definitely going to see it, hell, who knows, Michael Cera, with any luck, will for once, seem like somewhat of a bad ass towards the end of the movie.

This is basically the only reason I will agree to see it; both of those movies were awesome.
Juno wasn't that bad; it was more about him and the girl struggling with the baby they had made than about him getting sex.
I watched about five minutes of Superbad with my husband, and then we had to turn it off. I've no desire to hear teen boys talk about how horny they are and how much they love curse words for two hours.

Assuming Tam and her husband had sex on their wedding night, this thread proves that at least one non-virgin plans to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
My hypothesis is defeated.

I fucking hate Michael Cera. He's a little bitch and his voice annoys the fuck outta me. His acting is the same and has gotten old after all the shitty movies he's done like JUNO and YEAR One. ugh

Pengy, those kids look a LOT alike! Add that to the fact that they play similar roles in whatever movie they're in and you just have a bunch of fail.
Most of the movies coming out the last 10 years or more look the same, to me.

Wow. My bad, everybody. Talk about impaired judgment.
What High Sinjob meant was: I find that this formulated pseudo-aesthetic of over lime-lighting ONE awkward character onto his constant adventures in getting laid, pregnancy, and fighting for his high school crush sweet but at the same time overridden by the fact it's a beaten stale joke. Not to mention how it got real old real fast.
Thank you.

Yeah that's the only thing that most of his movies are about! Having sex and almost geting laid, it's such a waste of money.

Look, I'm not gonna come in here and pretend Michael Cera's movies are good. Most are crap. It's just that I feel that Scott Pilgrim is not about Scott having sex. Is about him being an awful jackass and learning to grow up. To be honest Cera is an awful mis-cast, but whatever

~plays devil's advocate~ Hey, it might not be all that bad. The exes may actually be entertaining. Dude's acting is almost guaranteed to have not improved, but that may be worked around. I'm not expecting this movie to be any good, but I'll end up watching it eventually.
And I liked Zombieland.

I want to see it! But yeah Michael Cera is kind of underrated. I mean he's a gawky looking boy/kid, what roles do you expect him to play? Maximus in Gladiator? He's just typecast that's all.
With that being said, I really liked him in Youth in Revolt. So I def. want to give this movie a chance.
