I haul/search/shelve books, read books, knit + sew, repair and paint furniture dragged off the side of the road, and have lazily abandoned my juggling sticks. Also rummage through opshops and manage to keep my kitchen herbs alive.
I cycle through these interests and hobbies.

2. Where are you from?
A land down under.

3. Who is your favorite author?

I don't really have a favourite...
I enjoy reading widely and borrow whatever catches my eye from the variety I handle at work. I like (good) fantasy for fun, non-fiction for picking up new skills, and all the usual suspects like Neil Gaiman/Lovecraft/etc.

Graphic novels are enjoyable, I liked The Maxx and Hellblazer.
Also Bryce Courtenay, Garth Nix, Ariel Levy, and Terry Pratchett... this list isn't really representative, so I'll add more when my brain isn't fried.

4. What are your favorite films?

I don't really watch many these days. But I have to say Tank Girl, Labyrinth, Princess Bride, Garage Days are up there.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?

I can't see myself getting married, but it would be something like Enigma or a slower Type O Negative.

6. At your funeral?

I'd like to say something suitably tragic, but I doubt I'll be complaining in any case

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?

Painlessly? Hopefully in a way that gives me a little bit of time to get my affairs in order, so the ones left behind don't fight over my worldly possessions.

8. What kind of casket would you want?

Something affordable, I won't be looking at it. Though in my more paranoid moments I'd like a crypt, just in case I'm not dead yet.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?

I have a lot of fancy clothes (made by me or secondhand), but usually default to a soft cottony black t shirt, black opshop jeans, and Doc Martens. Comfy.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?

I don't miss it. I cherish being old enough to be independent and make my own decisions in life. It is a pain in the arse to be responsible for your own safety and needs, but you're far less vulnerable as an adult than as a child.

11. What's your favorite band?

It used to be the Cure for many years, but I played their songs to death and am taking a break. I enjoy the old school goth suspects, pop music, Bjork, world, and have recently started going to see punk bands live.


12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?

I finished secondary college. Secured a place at university in Biomedical science and deferred, then after the break I opted for a different direction.

13. Why did you join?

This place came up on Google, and I lurked for quite a while...
At first I was unsure about joining, but I've come to enjoy reading the political discussions and general shenanigans here. Also there are no 'goffer than thou' pissing contests, anything of that nature gets shot down without mercy.

Gnet in the Apocalypse, and the Porn Thread were hilarious! The final tipping point was that I wanted to ask Renatus what he did to get his retro games working (as I'm still having some issues with DOSBox on Windows Vista).

I only hope I manage to avoid becoming extra crispy.

It's a definite contender for Greatest Thread Ever. I gave up posting shit I'd written on here due to lack of feedback, but have been toying with appealing to narcissism by rebooting the whole fanfiction thing the site had going for a while (which was awesome until the writers all dropped the ball and left some really good shit unfinished). The trouble is that very little of note has happened around here lately. It takes a little gimickery to write that stuff, and the posters haven't been very caricature-able of late.

Thinking more about it, for my funeral I'd like "Into My Arms" - Nick Cave.
For my wedding (assuming I have one as opposed to the more likely 27 cats) I'd like "The Ship Song" or "Are You The One That I've Been Waiting For."

The few songs I have from Einsturzende Neubauten are quite good, it only clicked in the past few years that Blixa Bargeld had been in the Bad Seeds. My favourite is "Sabrina".

I also like Greek myths and legends, this place kind of reminds me of the Greek Pantheon sometimes

I don't understand why childhood is so romanticised...
I think it's seen as a carefree time and the idea of nurture appeals - but unfortunately whether the adults make good choices or bad, they're still completely in charge of the little ones. I couldn't miss that lack of control.


I enjoyed the caricatures ^_^ I was thinking of making an attempt myself at Gnet fanfiction, but I'm not sure I know everyone well enough not to be way off or offend. And my contributions to the Porn Thread.. would clear it!


I was also tempted to weigh in on things like the Sex Industry thread, but a. I would have been flambe for sure and b. Saya has pretty much covered everything I was going to in the discussions around feminism.


Don't worry too much Renatus, any tips you can give me will be appreciated and I'll do what I can to work out the rest. Computers are picky.

I might put some pictures of things I've made in the DIY thread... post the backlog I already have (apologies to any that may have already seen them elsewhere), and then add more as I finish projects.

Yep I have been successful, the software itself was a bit temperamental in the first place so that had to be dealt with.

But what I used was VMware, a piece of software that lets me create a sort of "virtual computer" as I said before. It uses the hardware already present in my computer, as well as some storage to allocate to it, and a operating system that I have the program for, and within the allocated storage create a computer within my computer.

I learned how to do this in a college course I took, and fortunately for me they also provided me with the VMware program, as well as access to the windows XP and windows 7 operating systems. Unfortunately for you, it's not very cheap, from what I saw on their website, the VMware software alone can set you back about $200.

I actually have a portable 1 TB hard drive for this, since it has far more storage than I need at the moment, it was easy to spare 20GB for the virtual computer.

Of course all that software can be torrented I think.
