Ideas?
I get to paint my celing, but I need some ideas. I know the base is going to be black, but I don't want it just black. Any ideas would be deeply appreciated.

Crimson would actually probably be better. I can't think of a single person I've ever known with black walls or ceiling that didn't eventually hate it to death and go insane from it.
But if you really want it black- good luck!

Again, me.
Haha.
Only thing is, it gets dirty.
My car gets so dirty too.
I hate black... ┬_┬
Nah, I don't; just too high maintenance.

Take a paintball gun and blast it.... And stick LEDs in the splats...
That'd be my dream room.
Alright. So anyway.
If you like glow in the dark, get glow in the dark stars on your ceiling. I remember having those as a kid. They were bloody awesome.

I wouldn't suggest painting any part of your room black as it's a b*tch to paint over if you get angry with it. I've always being in a red room *my ex-bessie's room was crimson) for a long time makes me feel like I'm in a mouth or some organ. Not very pleasant.

Haha! Anymore of this and you're going to become my official opposite.
We'll always have sandpaper though!

I used splatters and dabs of Glow in the Dark paint. When I shut off my lights, it looks like a starry night in my room.

Go the opposite of the blue back ground with puffy white clouds and make it a midnight blue and shades of grey. Windswept and stormish with a sliver of a moon poking out.
*shaking her head of the cobwebs* I had a vision of black silhouette trees on the walls with the branches reaching up and onto that ceiling sky.

Fuck that. Go with the Cistein(sp) Chapel if you can pull if off.
Or paint your ceiling as a perspective looking up onto yet a higher more lofty ceiling supported by columns and arches.

The Sistine Chapel would be pretty neat...
Paint words that describe you or that you just like on the ceiling. Or put inside jokes up there. That way, when you go to sleep, you're reminded of good things and have pleasant dreams.

I'm going to try this as soon as I move. It sounds quite lovely.
On the room note, I'm going to go along with the Night Sky opinion, as it is rather relaxing to be able to stare at stars when you can't sleep.

That's why my ceiling looks like a starry night with the glow in the dark paint, it's quite relaxing too.

You should paint on one of those optical illusions xp
It would be so trippy... just lying in your bed staring at your ceiling for hours...

I once tried B&Q glow paint and it was a disaster, it all kinda dripped and ended up limpy and looking like Amityville-esque, that was quite coolio, so maybe you could do a 3-toned crimson, red and maroon, drippy ceiling that looked like blood. You could add some sparkle or gloss paint to make it look moist...
Or you could do a wrought ironwork design, depending on how artistic you are, and it wouldn't get as messy as plain black, which has never driven me crazy....
Or you could do a native american indian design, which I tend to prefer over manga, it can look quite gothic when arranged so, with purples, dark turquoises and blues with black or something, Haida Gwaii and Coast Salish are good areas to look at for a more simple design, if you're confident try Ojibway ( which is my fav, see links...).
