Hello Darklings

Hello All,

I'm a newbie from Ireland. I live in a small speck of a village by the sea.
Yes, I'm the only Goth in the village
So I'm glad to be here, to socialize, swap stories and learn a thing or two.

Welcome to the madhouse, pull up a chair, can I get you a drink? Don't worry about the noises...they'll go away, eventually...hehehe

Madhouse you say .. have an inkling I'll fit right in
Really good to have found sanctuary here, the folks on the boards all seem dapper and appear to be Kindred. Hope to see you around! (x)

*Fashionably late .. just realized that there's an intro protocol?
Ooooops! Neglected to share details of myself, so here ya go ...

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I cosplay for charity, run an animal rights group and generally potter about.
Am a trained photographer, but currently don't work in that area for cash.
To be blunt, I have experienced chronic depression since my teens, so work intermittently (when I'm able). The rest of my days are taken up with psych appointments. I'm not mad you understand, just creative

2. Where are you from?
The north of Ireland .. Norn Iron.

3. Who is your favorite author?
Shakespeare, William Blake, John Webster blah de blah .. old skool.
Contemporary authors, I guess Val McDermid and Stephen King.

4. What are your favorite films?
Horror genre. Woman in Black type as opposed to blood fest's.
The Crow, Queen of the Damned, Dracula, Byzantium etc ..
Also partial to Asian cinema; Oldboy, Memories of Matsuko.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Wedding? If you see me there, give me a shout! o.O

6. At your funeral?
Oh .. now this is something I HAVE planned lmaoooo.
Stephanie Riggio ~ Voice Inside (Song of Siddhartha)
P'raps a 'cheesy' song .. but fuck it's MY funeral, so my choice

I'd like a team of black horses with the black headdress to pull a gothic Victorian carriage with lil' ol' me on board. Ideally would like all attendees in full black Victorian mourning attire .. it's not much to ask!?

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
In a blaze of glory .. failing that? IF a degrading, debilitating illness is going to eat me away, "Pain in life is inevitable, suffering is optional". I'd have to opt for a Diazepam/Valium overdose smuggled in by a loyal compadre. Just settle down for a loooong winter's nap.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
I'd like to be a tree. To nurture and sustain life in death.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
My black Victorian mourning dress, and my PJ's

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Was gonna say sweet FA. Being small, scared .. abused, it sucked ..
Suppose I miss my childhood dog, and my Grandmother <3
And hope; the feeling of 'magic' or that anything is possible.

11. What's your favorite band?
As a kid .. Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page was my hero.
The Cult, The Damned, The Cure ..

Adulthood .. Korn, NIN, Engel (first 2 albums lol)
Static X, Placebo, Portishead, MM, Soil .. pfft I'll be here all day!
I like Mozart, the guy was a fucking genius!

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
"A little learning is a dangerous thing" .. I'm still learning.
Years of photographic study in college. Sociology & Psychology @ Uni.

13. Why did you join?
I live in a beautiful, but desolate village miles from anything.
Which is great, the sea just steps away, woods to wander in.
And miles from people .. I'm iffy with peeps, they bite ..
But then again, although I enjoy my own company and have my dogs ..
I find it's valuable to reach out, tentatively .. to people.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
I'm fe of the male

Thanks loves, appreciate the welcome words!

Hi Sci,
Purgatory ~ It's two-fold I guess?
It's a personal reference to myself, my life.
Somewhere between a Heaven & a Hell.
Also Ireland, in particular the North.
The North of Ireland, it's my home and I love her.
Ach but she's a land tainted in so many ways.
Religious persecution, political turmoil.
The Troubles, as we call it .. it's taken so many lives.
The country is beautiful, largely still natural and unadulterated.
Cliffs, scenic seascapes, mountains, forests etc ..
Ancient ruins, castles, pagan stones ..
It IS beautiful.
Then there's the people, warm, friendly ..
But fuck me we also harbour some of the most intolerant fucktards!
Backward thinking, prejudiced vile gobshites and they quash and ruin.

So it's both a Heaven, a Hell. Or somewhere in between?

To be honest I'd probably enjoy things of that nature, but I don't see people that often, certainly not with any regularity. I tend to hang out with my dogs LOL
Hobby wise; I love a good spooky movie, pottering in my garden, messing about with a camera. Hahaa I'm not a very outgoing person, but I really dig cosplay and costuming and getting into character. Guess that's me?
Pfft exciting huh! o.O
Fully wish I could say I enjoy white water rafting, cos I don't think beach combing sounds in any way exciting .. but hell that's about as active as I get
