Tuesday's Presidential Election
All right everyone let's hear it! What are your predictions?
I think Obama/Biden will win, unless we have another "Florida issue" this year.

I have a terrible feeling that Biden will be president by March.
I'm pretty confident that he and Obama will carry the election, if that is what you're getting at.

I'm Canadian, but I hope Obama/Biden win. Maybe it'll force Harper to tone it down... I hope...

Many people are saying that, but I don't think Obama will be assassinated.. after JFK and the attempt on Reagan, I think the Secret Service will be insanely tight.

Obama/Biden will win. We deserve what we will get: the lesser of two evils.
But we need the change no matter how small it will be. Then we can begin working toward an Independent president.

I should hope that Obama wins. I suppose you can say that I'm for Obama, but I'm more against McCain and Palin.
If McCain should win, believe me, I am moving to Canada...
I refuse to stay in this country with another monster like Bush in office.

Looks like Obama will win, but we've been surprised before so I'm not getting my hopes up.
By the way, if you live in California, you should vote yes on 1A, and no on 8.

I voted no on both. I was quite pleased to see on the street corners today young people with signs saying "Honk if you will Vote NO on 8", and many cars were honking. My faith inhumanity has been restored.

And, after reading what you just wrote, so has mine.

I think you're right, the Secret Service is going to constantly be on their toes, especially because of the skinheads that were already taken into custody.
That doesn't mean an assassination won't happen though.

Yes, and I don't think the state has a billion dollars to spend up front when it has to go to the fed for 7 billion because it exceeded its budget. Better to pay as you go.

What's the alternative? Raising taxes? That would be a sound plan but a politically near-impossible one.
In my view, high-speed rail in CA is 20 years overdue and has already been talked about to death. I just want to see the damn thing move forward.

Obammy's gonna win. We'll go to (another) war. He ain't gonna know what to do about it.
Or, McCain's gonna win. We'll stay in this war we're in now another bajillion years. We'll be so deep in debt the American dollar will collapse.
Doesn't really matter who wins, does it?

Don't say that. Everyone says that and no one does it.
Plus, it's a dumb cop-out.
That's why I made a promise that's way cooler than that:
If McCain wins, believe me, I'm going militant.

Yeah but it goes from San Diego to Los Angeles to San Fransisco or Sacramento. How many people need daily transit from LA to San Fran or San Diego. Once in a while yeah, but daily?

Who else could we go to war with? Pakistan? Something big is going to happen with them, regardless if Obama is in office or not.

Even though I'm European, I still have a big interest in what will be the result of these elections. With the US being the most powerful country in the world (in so many aspects), I can't stay indifferent.
I'm sure you know this, but I'll say it anyway.
Even if the polls show he will win, don't let this be a reason to think you don't need to go and vote. If too many people think it's a done deal, then he might still even loose.

Even if he wins the popular vote, he could still lose thanks to our electoral system. But if that happens there will be riots.

I really wish I was old enough to vote...
With the way this election is going, the country will be destroyed by the time I can. There won't be a next election...
The second I turn eighteen, if my money is still safely where it is, I'm moving to the UK. I don't know where, exactly, but I am.
It's really too bad that my parents talk about leaving, but I know it won't ever happen, so I'll have to deal for three years.

More often and by more people than you think, perhaps. California is already home to 3 of the busiest Amtrak routes in the nation. Besides, it could be of plenty regular commuter value from intermediate trips, say from San Jose to San Francisco, or Anaheim to downtown LA. And it would provide more impetus for transit-oriented development and the upgrading conventional rail routes that feed into the system.
Anyways, I probably should be saving this speech for another thread.

Franky I think it's rather ironic how both sides feel the same way about what they'll do if the other guy wins. Both sides feel they're right, both sides say they'll revolt, either way everyone's screwed *breathes in deeply in rl* ah don't you just love politics?
