Wait, so this thread started out complaining about new G net members bringing the quality of the site down with low IQ's. Quickly moved to developing a list of (satirical I assume) questions that make it easier to troll people that don't share the same views as you, then rapidly progressed to asking questions much like the satirical ones but with a note of actual interest and ended in more trolling and some spelling abortion about hovers.
Ok yes cleanse the users this forum is obviously going to the dogs.
I hate to be the devils advocate here (as I do agree this site could do with less rubbish) but you have to see the obvious irony in this entire thread.

I suspect that every group is hard on the newbies. Years ago when I first started doing house painting I ran into the same bull. A lot of experinced painters seem to have a chip on their shoulders as if they were born with a paint brush in their hands. Even so, there are always the good ones too who don't mind giving the new painters pointers and tips_ just like there are experinced goths who cut the newbees some slack, yourself, JJ and Six.

Thanks for the advice about sending messages ( and thanks to you too JJ) Apparently Iim not allowed to send messages yet. I don't have a place for messages to click on to. I did the contact pop up thing and seen where I could send a message but when I tried, I was informed that I wasn't allowed.

It's not even about trolling people who have different views to us. Diversity is welcomed. Stupidity however, is not. Same as ANY social group really, I don't see it as being something exclusive to Gnet.

And I have often found that in most social groups, it is not having common interest/beliefs/values that seperates the people, not necessarily stupidity.

Oh and the complete and utter bitchiness of the people who inhabit the social group, and the social cliques of the group and the social groups tolerance to the opinions of others, oh and those who feel threatened by the newcomers.

But that is just my view from my experience.

Nah, stupidity ALONE is not a good enough reason for social exclusion. Maybe I should have been a little more specific than I was. Stupidity in conjunction with arrogance, refusal to acknowledge legitimate advice from peers, complete and utter disregard for the already established social etiquette in a particular grouping and an unjustified sense of superiority is more what I'm talking about.

Being stupid and behaving in a moronic manner on PURPOSE are totally different, levels of intelligence differ wildly from person to person and even then, just because someone is particularly knowledgeable about say, politics, it doesn't mean they are smart and well informed about everything. If more people treated everything as a learning experience, I really think there would be a lot less stupidity in the world.

Continuing to behave in a manner that people have stated over and over is annoying is just deliberately trying to make sure you are excluded. It'd be different if it was something that a person couldn't help, like I don't know, talking with a lisp or a stammer. Sure, some people might find it irritating for whatever reason but it could be excused and accepted because it's not deliberate.

Every social grouping has it's own rules and expected behaviours. Maybe social groupings are slightly different on the net because it's less personal as you don't have any face to face interactions but even those have their own etiquette that newcomers are expected to follow if they want to be included in the group. That's not to say that everyone has to think and say the same thing, that would be terminally dull,just that in order to become accepted within that group, you have to occasionally make compromises. It's not about changing the person you are as such, it's more about finding a way that you can exist peacefully with other people in the social areas you choose to be part of.
