I appreciate her for letting me know. So, here's a new question.

Q) What American sitcom is this dialog from?
Theodore: Hey Larry, how come food tastes better when your eatin' it outside?
Larry: I don't know. Maybe 'cause if you drop something, nobody's gonna' holler at ya' for gettin' dirt dirty.

****************************************

THE TRIVIA QUESTION THREAD RULES

1) Asker will post a trivia question, regarding some cultural or newsworthy piece of information. The hope is that the questions will be of such a nature that they will neither be boringly simple or frustratingly obscure. Keeping the subject in the realm of generally known information is desired, as this will help promote interest and longevity in the game.

2) Once a question is posted, anyone can post a guess at an answer, but please, only one answer per post. Answer posters commit to checking the thread within 24 hours to see if they have been credited with the correct answer.

3) Asker commits to checking thread at least twice a day to verify if a correct answer has been posted (more often would be preferred.) If so, Asker will copy by quote the first poster of that correct answer and identify it as the right answer. Once that is done, the identified poster of the correct answer becomes the next Asker.

4) If no correct answer has been posted within 24 hours, the Asker will post "24 HOURS ARE UP!", followed by the correct answer. The Asker then gets to ask another question.

5) If the Asker has not finalized the question within 48 hours, then anyone else who can verify a correct answer by way of online encyclopedia, www.wikipedia.org, www.dictionary.com, another legitimate reference site or a respected news organization, should do so. Unreliable information sources like blogs and forum comments are not acceptable proof of a correct answer. The first person who had posted the correct answer then becomes the Asker.

6) If no verification of a correct answer has been posted by anyone after 72 actual hours (not 3 days), the question is declared dead and the first person to claim the right online will become the next Asker.

7) These rules may be revised by the thread creator in the future to improve game play and interest in the subject.

8) The latest version of these rules should be copied by quote once each time the thread starts a new page.

Latest revision Sept. 15, 2010

Saya, "Leave It To Beaver" is correct!

Your turn to ask a question.

Sounds good. Just remember, you've got to answer before you can ask.

I'm looking forward to your questions!

"Confucius" was the name given to the Chinese philosopher by Western missionaries, what was his actual name?

"Zhong Ni" was his courtesy name and Kǒng Qiū was his full name. I never really looked into it but it always amused me that a Chinese Man had been given such a European sounding name.

Kong Qiu was what I was looking for! And yeah, its funny, and its not just him, we take a lot of foreign words and just make up new ones (the Chinese don't call China "China" either!)

Excellent!

For my question, what does the word "cachorro" mean and where does the word originate from? It is used in Spanish and Portuguese but did not come from either of those languages.

Cachorro means "dog" and it originated from the Latin word catŭlus.

Correctamundo, Benjamin Lahnger. My source directed me to both Latin and Basque language as the source for the word but you can take the point for Latin.

Excellent! That took a bit of searching.

New question:

American President Woodrow Wilson kept what animals as pets at the White House? (Notice I did not say IN the White House.)

Wow! That was fast (he said in a slightly dejected tone)! Darn you and your spectacular memory!

That question lasted 6 minutes - that's gonna be the record for a while, I bet!

Saya, "Sheep" is the correct answer. The flock kept the lawn freshly mowed.

Well done. Your turn to ask a question.

My head is crammed full of useless knowledge!

What was the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards?

My answer:

Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Up (2009) are the only animated films ever to be nominated for Best Picture.

Alright!

Q) We all know the fantastic theme song "Gonna Fly Now" by Bill Conti that appears in the film "Rocky" when Rocky Balboa is training, running up and down those famous steps. Whose music did creator, director and star Sylvester Stallone recently admit he initially thought he was going to use for that scene?

Dang! I let this roll a little longer than 24 hours because I really thought someone could get this. Oh well.

24 HOURS ARE UP!

A) Jimi Hendrix!
New question:

Q) What did Charlie Brown's father do for a living?

He was a Barber.

& Ben, Jimi Hendrix would have been a lot better for a variety of reasons if they had decided to use him.

Corpsey, Charlie Brown's father WAS in fact a barber.

Opinion noted on Hendrix. Your turn to ask a question!

It seems debatable, Australia seems to be the best answer but apparently there's debate on whether the Commonwealth Constitution guaranteed universal rights.
