ANOTHER REASON TO LIKE WISCONSINITES:

The Madison, WI City Council voted 15-4 on Tuesday to name the plastic pink flamingo the official city bird, in honor of the 1979 prank in which University of Wisconsin students placed more than 1,000 pink plastic flamingos on Bascom Hill, near the dean’s office. Alderwoman Marsha Rummel says that event “signifies something that makes us a very special place” and is “captured in our imaginations forever.”

That's Wisconsin for you. Love that place.

Here's how they do it in the Dark Heart of Florida:

I had those flamingos outside the trailor I was living in with my friend. When I was at school, some guy approached us, and it turned out he was our neighbor, and he asked if we were the ones with the flamingos. We laughed and we told him we're pretty utilitarian minded, and he could have one if he wanted, becasue there was really no need for us to have two.

The conversation turned sour when he said,

"Well, if I had it I'd probably burn it. You see... I don't know how to say this, but.... I'm a CHRISTIAN, and to me, that represents like, death and stuff."

I was about to just about to tell him to fuck off and leave us alone, but instead my friend starting quoting some stuff out of James, and we left him there really confused about his right-wing ideaology.

I'd ask him if his turkey dinner represents like, death and stuff.

HAHAHA. Or, you know, that picture of the Jewish guy nailed to ply-wood. That seems to represent death and stuff.

My friend sees him at the laundrymat once in a blue moon, and everytime that guy tries to convert him he just says, "Look, if you're a Christian, you're just going to have to beleive in nationalized healthcare. The bible never said 'Jesus healed the leper, and then worked out a payment plan with interest that put him in debt for the rest of his life,' ok?"

Yeah, whatever happened about loving your neighbour? I don't think leaving them to die because their poor is really a Christian thing to do.

I watched Ed Wood earlier and when they kicked Bela Lugosi out of the hospital because he had no money I yelled, "Private health care killed Bela Lugosi! Bastards."

Last night I embraced chocolate cake as my personal savior. Today I think it will be a very large submarine sandwich.

I am reading Anne McCaffrey, Charles Stross, Ian M Banks and Clive Barker books as preparation for starting NaNoWriMo. All those authors manage to produce works quickly, frequently, and of enough quality to have fiercely loyal fanbases. So I must learn the trick and see if I can spot similarities in writing style between them.

I'm considering unemployment - my boss, who was all five kinds of awesome, died and now his son is running the show. He's okay and all but it's not the same. Given that low earnings without perks fucking suck, I may look into going back to college and finishing a degree.

God damn it, I fucking hate having my routine interrupted.
