Does anyone else think the first few seconds of All Gone Dead's Cedric Krane sound exactly like theme from the first level of Donkey Kong Country on the SNES?

But shit... too much All Gone Dead hate in here.

Here's one for metal. They've got one from Fields of the Nephilim in one of their first few posts.

It's Friday! That means a new album download on Get Dead! This one is "a Dark Moon Night" by the Shroud. The blog owner seems to really, REALLY like this one. Let's see if he's right...

Downloading now. I heard a song of the Shroud's years ago called "The Caged Bird" when the Gothic Jukebox was still online. If their other stuff is as good as that one was, I'll be pleased.

Damn, that one's not as easily accessible. I have a soft spot for black metal.

I quite like the Shroud album. I've never heard of them before.

I want to start my own one of these now...

My girlfriend made an effort to introduce me to them once, but I promptly dismissed the band as 'lame goth Enya' after a cursory listen. I'm far more impressed with The Shroud upon giving them a second chance, so I'm definitely grateful to getdead for facilitating that.

They are a bit Enya-like, now that I think about it.

I might like them then. I'm not sure, I've been kinda annoyed with the whole "haunty" etherial type sound. Enya was like that, yes? Kinda... well... you know.

Yeah, but how does that divert from the quality of their music? I'm sure the frontwoman of Shroud is no pampered diva.

I really like Play Dead. Very Bauhaus-esque.

To put it bluntly, does All Gone Dead suck? I'm sure you know what I mean.

Hmm it sounds more Sisters of mercy esque than ethereal quite a lot of the time. With sort of neo-classical type sounds and definite influence from ethereal.

But definitely not "haunty ethereal".

I was pleasently surprised by them.

EDIT: Well Day and Night is Sistersy.
The rest is more rock-ish than ethereal.
Definite post-punk influence as well.

A bit like Voices of Masada at times.

They don't!
Maybe Stich sounds a little too poppy, but so what? At least he has fun singing and his songs are mildly relevant to real life.

Yes, but his songs are boooo-ring and unoriginal.

Yeah, no one said Stitch or whoever wasn't cool, just that his music is awful.

I'll go ahead and spill it. I maintain this blog. I don't think it was that hard to figure out. I wanted to avoid legal issues, but they can find out who I am by my bloody e-mail. Any suggestions for the next upload? I was thinking Fields of the Nephilim's "the Nephilim". One of my top ten goth albums.
