Northern Kings

Members: Jarkko Ahola (from Teräsbetoni and formerly from Dreamtale), Marco Hietala (from Nightwish and Tarot), Tony Kakko (from Sonata Arctica) and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (from Charon)

All 4 members switch off doing lead vocals depending on the cover.

They actually are a straight up metal cover band. (All they do is covers for those who didn't get that from the obvious statement) This is a track listing of both of their albums, they have a 3rd album in production currently as well. (I'm a huge Northern Kings fan) haha

Album - Reborn

"Don't Stop Believin'" – (Journey cover) – (by Marco Hietala) – 5:29
"We Don't Need Another Hero" – (Tina Turner cover) – (by all) – 4:48
"Broken Wings" – (Mr. Mister cover) – (by Tony Kakko) – 5:32
"Rebel Yell" – (Billy Idol cover) – (by Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto) – 7:29
"Ashes To Ashes" – (David Bowie cover) – (by Tony Kakko) – 4:39
"Fallen On Hard Times" – (Jethro Tull cover) – (by Marco Hietala) – 3:54
Incorporates the instrumentals of Ozzy Osbourne's "Bark at the Moon"[3]
"I Just Died in Your Arms" – (Cutting Crew cover) – (by Jarkko Ahola) – 5:49
"Sledgehammer" – (Peter Gabriel cover) – (by Tony Kakko) – 5:08
"Don't Bring Me Down" – (Electric Light Orchestra cover) – (by Jarkko Ahola) – 4:06
"In The Air Tonight" – (Phil Collins cover) – (by Marco Hietala) – 4:35
"Creep" – (Radiohead cover) – (by Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto) – 5:38
"Hello" – (Lionel Richie cover) – (by Jarkko Ahola) – 4:31
"Brothers In Arms" – (Dire Straits cover) – (by Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto) – 6:59

Album - Rethroned

"Training Montage" (Vince DiCola cover, from the film Rocky IV) - (Instrumental)
"Wanted Dead or Alive" (Bon Jovi cover) - (by Marco Hietala)
"Kiss from a Rose" (Seal cover) - (by all)
"A View to a Kill" (Duran Duran cover) - (by all)
"Nothing Compares 2 U" (Prince cover, although chiefly associated with Sinead O'Connor) - (by Tony Kakko)
"My Way" (Frank Sinatra cover) - (by Jarkko Ahola)
"Strangelove" (Depeche Mode cover) - (by all)
"Take on Me" (A-ha cover) - (by all)
"I Should Be So Lucky" (Kylie Minogue cover) - (by Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto and Jarkko Ahola)
"Killer" (Adamski feat. Seal cover) - (by all)
"Róisín Dubh (Black Rose): A Rock Legend" (Thin Lizzy cover) - (by Jarkko Ahola and Marco Hietala)
"They Don't Care About Us" (Michael Jackson cover)

Why even touch that song? Phil Collins' drum solo is legendary. That's one of those songs that puts a smile on my face.

I'm listening to the soundtrack from the horror film "The Burning" by Rick Wakeman.

"Die Moorsoldaten" interpreted by Hannes Wader

A song with a long story I'll keep short. It was written 1933 by prisoners in the German KZ Börgermoor, banned two days after it was first performed, but survived - in many interpretations.
If you're interested, you can find various English interpretations under the title "The peat bog soldiers".

Shake - The Creepshow

Saw them last night. What I can remember was fuckin' sweet. One of the opening bands played Atheist Anthem, by Leftover Crack, and I swear I almost came in my pants.

I've had Enjoy The Silence stuck in my head since Thursday.
I've been singing it without even realizing it, and I think my mother is about to beat me.
So, I'm listening to it yet again, in the hopes that I will make myself (temporarily) sick of it. If this doesn't work, I'll listen to The Weeping Song, because that gets stuck in my head sooooo easily..

That's actually really good. Are they an older band?

They've been around since 1980. I can't believe you don't know them, XD

They make a lot of their own instruments and can get really experimental/avante garde. A lot of people tend to just throw them into the industrial genre, but I really believe they are one of those bands that just can't be classified. It's really cliche and cheezy, and so many people have it, if I ever get a tatoo It would be their toltec petroglyph logo. I've already got it painted on the back of my old sweater, heh.

I can't believe I don't know them either, I know some pretty obscure stuff! (Not bragging)

I'll check them out, they're definitely my style from what I can tell.
