What was the best book you read this year?
Not necessarily books that came out this year. I think I read The Handmaid's Tale in January, so I'd have to say that was the best novel I read. A Thousand Sisters by Lisa Shannon was probably the best non-fiction. I read a lot of great books this year, I had to stare at my shelfari shelf and debate about this.

Autobiographies: I am Ozzy by ...who else? Ozzy Osbourne.
Hilarious!
Literature: Nature, The American Scholar, Self-Reliance, Experience, The Poet, and Illusions by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
I admire this man second only to Jesus! And maybe Dr. Samuel Johnson. Emerson describes life as I perceive it, a mind reader!

Really hard question... seems like I had great luck with books this year.
I think that "Blindsight" by Petter Wats, for personal reasons more than most - The ideas, the point of view he chose, the love for knowledge that must drive such a person just made me respect the author for such a work.
Though, "A Canticle for Leibovich" was great too, and so were "The Lonliness of the Prime Numbers", "Glenkill", "The Lost Blue" and "A homemade Witch" (though I read it yesterday).

I really enjoyed the first three Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett. I plan to read more this coming year.

His trylogy (I think it was a trylogy...) about that witch-girl is awesome, and I fing his books about Mort, the lovely grim-reaper, the best.

Hands down... "Nemesis" by Jo Nesbo. It's about a bank robbery taking place in Norway. The main character is a police officer named Harry Hole. He becomes entangled in this plot and soon receives cryptic messages from the alleged culprit...And of course, he must unravel the mystery before it's too late.
I believe this is the first book in the "Harry Hole" series. I rarely feel like I don't want to put a book down...But I felt that with this one. I never wanted it to end. I read it at home, at the library, on the bus on the way to school, waiting for class to begin, lol. It's a great read and I totally recommend.
